Inb4 the haters. Seriously though, Sabathia down again, Tanaka now a home run dandy, and Severino just looks plain lost. Maybe Boone should start his middle relievers.

They just won 3 of 4 from Texas, whom as you clearly don’t know swept the World Champions a few weeks ago.

Houston < Texas < NYY

Things could be worse for New York

Wasn't that right after they dropped four straight to the Red Sox?

They’re clearly the 4th best team in the AL. They don’t have the rotation to compete with Boston, Houston, or Cleveland in the playoffs. At this point I don’t even think they’d be the favorites to win the wild card game with the way Severino has been pitching. Severino has basically been as bad as Sonny Gray the last month or so. And the pen looks like it’s starting to feel the wear and tear caused by the starters going 5 every night.

If Oakland holds on to win tonight, the Yankees wild card lead is +3.

The dorkwads calling the game for ESPN tonight said he's telegraphing his pitch selection. I say he's got the heebie jeebies.

Over worked because he was the only starter who could go more than 6 innings.

Coming off of last year where he had like a 70 inning workload increase counting the playoffs.

quote:

over his last six starts, he's given up 27 earned runs in 31 innings. That's a 7.84 ERA and a 1.77 WHIP

shite he’s been worse than Gray

They swept the White Sox and then took three of four from Texas after they were swept by Boston.

I’m convinced they need to skip a Severino start. Give him a breather.

30 ER on 54 H in 36 IP.

Against some not great competition as well: @Toronto, @Tampa, Kansas City, @White Sox, and the Mets.

Yeah, I'd say it's probably a good idea to skip a start.

He only has 8 walks in that span, so id have to assume he hasn't completely lost his command, but he does seem to have lost his confidence.

If the Yankees are going to hold on to a WC spot, and if they want to actually make some noise in the postseason, they aren't going to be able to do it without Severino being at the top of his game.

Need judge and sanchez to come back and contribute. Only chance at beating teams is to out slug them, which doesnt bode well for the postseason.

Sanchez coming back won't be enough, he needs to be the same Sanchez as the last couple of years and not the one that has played this year.

If the injured can't play then we will have a great spectacle as both Oakland and Seattle have series with Yankees.

In descending order of likelihood
Yankees can end up:
1. Best wild card. Home game.
2. Travel to Oakland
3. Travel to Houston
4. Travel to Seattle
5. Golf.

Houston's beat up too.
A's may win west.

What's crazy is that Boston has been beat up all year too. No Pedroia all year. Bogearts, Devers, Holt, Kinsler, Rodriguez, Sale, Pomeranz, Vazquez, Betts, and Wright have all been injured at some point this year. That is 3/5 of their starting rotation out for most of the year.

They are a full 10 games behind Boston.

But still ahead of Houston.
