such a great rivalry that players don't mind going to the other team (boggs, clemens, damon, etc). give me a college rivalry anyday over the whorish pros.

a bama, texas players would never dare transferring to auburn, ou and vice-versa. that's why michigan-osu is so damn overrated.

I think the Giambi stache has given the Yankees their mojo back.

What's the black strip on the Yanks' sleeves for? I know it's been there for ages, I've just never known why it's there.

This is an absolutely devastating game for the Red Sox. Its not only the fact that they are in the process of losing Game 2 of the series - its how they are doing it.

Boston’s biggest weakness is its bullpen. It has been since the beginning of the season.

The Sox just don’t have much pitching depth - great system for position players but thin on pitching.

Justin Masterson is the lynch pin of Boston’s pitching staff strategy for the rest of the year. They are completely depending on him to try stabilize the pen.

This is the second time the Yankees have seen him - and it looked like they had his strange motion figured out.

The Sox are asking a ton of Masterson. If he can’t stabilize their pen then they have no other internal solutions - no one in their minor league system is ready to step in to the majors besides Masterson.

The other part of Boston’s strategy depends on Clay Bucchholz. They took Masterson out of the rotation because he was needed more in pen. If Bucchholz pitches well in the rotation they can keep Masterson in the pen. But if Bucchholz continues having problems this year then they are in a bind.

The Yankees have made their move in getting Marte and Nady. They’re probably about to get Washburn.

Look for Boston to have to overpay to get Brian Fuentes or possibly Will Ohman. I don’t think the O’s will trade Sherrill in the division. Any way you cut it the Sox are going to need to respond - their pen is just not adequate.

Andy did a nice job adjusting to the strike zone, it seemed it was about as big as a postage stamp. He was getting squeezed.

Good to see the Yankees come around and hit with RISP. Looking to go 46-1 after the 6th...

They only wear it when a former Yankee dies. In this case it's for Bobby Murcer who died July 12 of a brain tumor.

Oh ok. It seems every time I watch the Yankees it's there. I thought it was permanent.

What a surprise, A-Rod gets plunked. I guess that meeting Varitec had before the game really paid off.

That was a pretty douche move by the Sox fans cheering after A-Rod almost got drilled in the head.

Richie Sexson is pinch running. I never thought I'd see the day.

Huge baseball fan but this rivalry is losing its hype from a national stand point. They play each other like 20 times a year, 19 of them usually televised. It just is not as exciting as it used to be. Red Sox/Rays has been uglier this year.
