Its actually EASY to say who is the best....its whoever has won the most money. Thats the whole point and is an accurate scorecard.

In that case Jamie Gold is the best player ever right now.

Ex-1
Greg Raymer raised to 150,000 from the button and Justin Bonomo reraised all in for 1,440,000 from the small blind. Raymer made the call and they flipped up their cards:

Raymer: A8
Bonomo: AJ

Board: K652A

Bonomo doubled up on the hand to 2,985,000 and Raymer took a hit down to 1,785,000.

There is no reason to call off half your stack against a good player with a shite hand like A8

Ex-2
Greg Raymer raised to 400,000 and Isaac Haxton reraised to 1.25 million. Raymer then shoved for his entire stack of 8 million and Haxton called, having him very slightly covered.

Raymer showed pocket fives and Haxton revealed the superior pocket nines. The board rolled out KQ1033 and Haxton’s nines took the pot, sending the Fossilman out in third place to a standing ovation. Haxton now has a 2-1 chip lead on Vitaly Lunkin.

Another ignorant play. How can you justify going all in with 5s there other than you think the guy is on a complete bluff, but from what I have seen from Raymer he doesn't read people all that well and overbets these marginal low pairs and weak aces.

Those arent really bad plays. Justin(ZeeJustin) Bonomo is highly aggressive there and A8 is the borderline hand that he can call with. He is good more times than not against Justin there.

The pocket 5's is not a bad play either. People 3 bet very light 3 handed so 55 is good enough hand to 4bet jam.

You beat me to it. According to 480, Jamie Gold is obviously the best in the world.

Watch out Event 11 - $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em Hellmuth is 10th in chips with 65 players left. We can only hope he makes the final table.

I was going to say Chip was the best player ever when he was alive.

I asked Chip Reese and Doyle Brunson who was the best poker player they ever played against, and they both named the same person, Jack Binion. Jack does not play in tournaments (how would it look if the ex-host of the WSOP were to win?), or on-line, only occasionally in cash games. They both gave him credit for being absolutely fearless (his bankroll is effectively unlimited) and being able to read opposing players better than most. Jack would supposedly just raise the stakes until he could see where his opponents' breaking points were. Then he'd force them to play at their limits until he beat them.

Maybe they were both just bullshitting, or maybe they were just flattering Jack (he did give each of them ownership interests in his casinos outside Las Vegas), but they told me about Jack's poker playing ability independently of each other.

Poodle, your career, Binion's, Vegas work history, and general LV expertise, has always intrigued me.

I've heard stories about JB but i'd have to imagine Chip was just blowing smoke since he can't say himself. I think you might have just caught doyle on a wierd day cause every time i've heard his answer to who was the best he always names his good friend Chip.

Doyle and Dewey would both definitely vouch Chip as greatest all-around player. As would many others.

Doyle used to play cash games in La, Ark, Okla, Tex way back in the day. I have relatives that know him.

I've played with most of the big name pro's people see on a day to day basis but Doyle is one I have never had the pleasure of playing with. I'd rather play with him than any of the guys I have in the past.

If Josh Field would stop cheating poker sites, he could have/still could go down as one of the best ever. I believe he just turned 19 or is close to it. All of the pros I have spoken with said he has one of the greatest poker minds of poker history. And at the time, he was 15-17.

Huck Seed, David Chiu and Todd Brunson still holding strong with 8 people left in event 12
