Wiki, is it that hard to deter the point of the OP?

If they want to be taken seriously, the independent route has finally run its course

no, they need to play a top SEC team and beat them... being independent is fine and desirable bc they don't suffer from playing buy-a-wins in conference

I agree that ND needs to join a conference. I think it's total bullshite that they don't. I think it's total bullshite that they have special rules made for them.

But I don't think this will be the impetus. As you see, they are reaping the benefits of independence right now because they are in the NCG. If they were in a half decent conference, they would have gotten exposed earlier in the year.

True, I agree with you, but it just pisses me off knowing that they will soon take a better and more deserving team's place. Which, in my opinion, is why there needs to be an 8 team playoff

college football will continue to be biased bullshite until there is an 8 team playoff

the 4 team one will reduce it a bit, but not eliminate it.

8 team playoff will almost fully remedy it

I'd actually like to go 6 and give the top teams a bye as a reward for being the best during regular season.

I'd be very much in support of that!

That was one of the ideas I supported as well. 6 or 8 is way better than 4.

I can see the entire country, other than the SEC, refusing the 8 game playoff because 4-5 teams would be in the top 8

Eta: 4-5 teams from the SEC, if that wasn't obvious enough

Yeah I like the 6 because I think it preserves some of every week value of the regular season. That bye week is absolutely huge for a team of college kids.

One way to prevent an overabundance of a single conference would be to have a uniform number of conference games for all conferences and only have maybe 1 or 2 non conference call games at the most. You wouldn't get the big early season interconference games but you'd be into the meat of your schedule quickly
