That is true, and I'm not saying its certain but both ESPN and Fox have picked up a ton more games this year on a weekly basis then ever before. The world cup coverage is obviously cyclical but champions league coverage, English Premier League coverage, and La Liga coverage has all dramatically increased

I didn't mean to attack it. Honestly.
Some of the responses of the fans led me down this dark road today.
Again, FTR, I don't care at all if someone enjoys soccer. It's a wonderful sport that requires a great amount of athleticism. I could not play it today and probably couldn't play it ten years ago.
I just don't care for it. Nor do I care for Hockey or NASCAR.
But that's just my opinion. No one need lose sleep over it.

It is boring. I never grew up with it. We had it at my school but the only kids who played it were the ones who couldnt play other sports.
I would like it if they made a few changes.
1. Make the game rougher, full contact and tackling allowed.
2. Have the player put on some pads, head protection, etc so they could play and reduce injuries.
3. Make the goalies wear armour suits (costumes) kind of like the Raiders black hole guys.
4. Allow players to use their hands. To be able to pick up the ball and run it or even to pass it down the field.
5. Hot cheerleaders
6. Diving into the goal with the ball is Ok, worth 6 points.
These 6 small changes and I would watch the sport.

Uhhh My 8 million is BUTTS IN THE SEATS.
MLS did not even have 1 million attendance last year they had 795k TOTAL .
Must be a hell of a TV contract

Well there are more women's college basketball teams than MLS teams. And there are more games. Plus the tournament is a big draw. But if you make it even, like I did in my original post, then soccer would still come out on top.

We are talking OVERALL popularity right??
Im sure we could compare the popularity of Donkey show to a Lindsay Lohan movie and still make the Lohan movie look like it was just as popular if you want.

If you tell a baseball fan you dont like baseball because its boring the baseball fan will most likely nod and agree that it can be boring and that would be it..
Tell the same to a soccer fan and they will go on and on and on how you should like their boring arse sport and that its great for so many reasons and go on and on... Just like a whiney bitch..
