Craft's value goes beyond the stats for OSU IMO. He may have stats similar to Wilbekin but he's a better all-around package.
Is he a better shooter/scorer? No. Wilbekin is better.
Is he a better distributor? No. About even.
Is he a better defender? Eh. I don't personally think so, but there's not really any objective way to measure perimeter defense.
So what does that leave us? "Leadership?" Sure, I guess.

Erving Walker was a four-year starter effectively (didn't start his freshman season, but played a ton of minutes).
Taurean Green was a bench player in his freshman season, and thus has lower career averages than Walker due to his limited role in his freshman season. He was still a way better PG than Walker.
I'm sure there are a countless amount of examples of good to great players who played limited roles early on. How is that dumb?
