As far as the OU rivalry both teams were the big boys in separate conferences going way back. UT had atm and Ark and OU had Nebraska but it wasn't close to the intensity.
There were basically riots in Dallas the night before the game in the 60's & 70's. News stations had live coverage with a running arrest count.
