The talent pool in women's college basketball is extremely shallow, the few good players that are out there go to UConn thanks to good recruiting and their history.

No players worth a damn for left over for anyone else.

In men's college basketball (and football for that matter) the talent pool is extremely deep. There are so many good and great players they end up spread out at a much wider range of schools.

This situation is not UConn's fault, it's the NCAA's fault. It's their job to arrange divisions to promote healthy competitive balance. The NCAA has tried way too hard to pretend women's basketball is the exact same thing as men's, when it clearly isn't, right down to the 64 team tournament.

Someone could put an end to this by putting together a group of college boys "in transition" to compete in women's basketball.

Put a drubbing on those girls and put them in their place.

The SJW conundrum would be so much fun to witness.

Did a quick search.

These are the top 100 players UConn has landed according to ESPN.

Not exactly the yearly dominance one would think

2016: #3
2015: #1, #6, #23
2014: #14, #17, #31
2013: #75
2012: #1, #2, #6
2011: #1, #24
2010: #10, #13, #39, #46, #95

I don't care about WBB. Don't watch it so what this team does doesn't matter to me. Might as well be the ping pong championships.

What does bother me is the airtime it gets on ESPN. Women's basketball is on the main stations while the NCAA Hockey tournament gets relegated to ESPNU and ESPN3? GTFO. Who the hell watches that shite basketball in the first place? There are freaking future NHLers playing this weekend and the girls who are playing make believe basketball get the publicity and good airtime.

Just another reason to hate ESPN. They should be covering college hockey, and baseball, and wrestling, and lacrosse. Instead they push their SJW agenda with girls basketball.

It has a lot less to do with SJW than the simple fact that ESPN has always been a mouthpiece for UConn basketball.

The rise of both their men's and women's programs coincided with the rise of ESPN. was not an accident

Limited talent pool, and the success of the program sells itself. They're basically recruiting like Kentucky without the threat of losing good players after 1 or 2 years. How many are really leaving for the WNBA after the first year or two?
