This season has been quite an anomaly for Harper thus far, and his advanced metrics seem counterintuitive.
His BB% thus far is 20.2%, which is nearly double his career average of 10.4%, yet his K% is the highest it has been in his major league career - 28.7% in 2015 compared to 21.4% coming into the year.
If he could get his K% down to his career average, he'd improve his BA to .330 instead of the .284 he is currently averaging.
It is peculiar that he's dramatically improved his BB%, which implies he's seeing the ball better, but his K% says the exact opposite.
He's also seeing a higher percentage of fastballs than at any other time in his career. Apparently he is being more selective at the plate, but when he swings, he swings with all he's got, because his % of balls in play classified as "soft" and "hard" are BOTH up for the year.

Todd Walker
when he was with Reds he nearly led the league in doubles, had to be around 30 years old
ETA:2002 .299 with 42 doubles, 66 extra base hits at the age of 29
I was surprised to see that his average was above .290 7x after he turned 25
