Are you saying that we can't have a favorite MLB team because we live in Louisiana.
No but don't tell me your a die hard fan because they were the trendy team to like in the 90's when you were growing up 3 states over. I had this discussion with a guy last night who was decked out in Braves gear and telling me how his team is great and the Astros are terrible.

Sounded like he said you can't be a fan until you GRADUATE from there. Guess that means all the current students aren't even fans
No not true again. I just used the term graduated for the example of myself. I am an alumni of the school so I wouldn't root for any other team was my point. That is my affiliation with LSU. If you are a student, your affiliation would be that you attended the university which is the same thing. It is a legitimate reason to be passionate about the sports programs.

You've stated this before...So you were a fan of a team 15 or so years before they were in existence...
Now that is Die Hard!

The franchise's first minor league games took place in the 1996 season. On November 7, 1997, Larry Rothschild was named the team's first manager. The team acquired 35 players in the Expansion Draft on November 18, 1997.

They are usually really good and have been for a long time

see this is a question that should be asked, obviously back in the 80's the only teams that could be followed on a daily basis in LA were the cubs and braves. I've always wondered about fans of other teams except for maybe the astros. What is the connection with these teams? other than picking out of hat or they happened to win a title the year you started watching baseball

I would listen the Cards games on the radio and I got hooked. I lived my first 7 yrs of my life in England so I got a late jump.

Didn't say that, you did. You asked me why you like a team. I gave you my best guess seeing as how I have never met you and have no idea who you are.

I'll bet money that most of the "die hard" Braves fans didn't exist until after 1990. I saw it happen in my town, Huntsville, AL.

This is the exact statement i say when talking about this with most of my friends who are die hard Braves fans from La. Most are 24-25 and tell me they liked the Braves before they were good... No you haven't. They have been really good since you were 5.
Posted on 1/24/09 at 12:36 pm to TEXASTIGER22
they have been fans since they had Bob Horner

I'm 30, and I've been a Braves fan since 1984. They were the worst team in baseball the 1st 7 years I watched them. But I'm not as much a fan of them as someone in LA who's followed the Hornets the last 4-5 years?
This thread sucks worse today than it did yesterday. It's got ranter written all over it. Why don't you go hang out over there with your fellows.

What I would ask why is it soooo important to like the team that is closest to you? What if you tried to or simply don't like them...should you do it anyway...letting them grow on you instead of you growing on them?
