Are people trying to really use PER and other stats that are tilted with the way the game is played/called now to claim that a younger player is better?

Stats are easily manipulated and on their own meaningless without context of when they were collected. Thomas was a much more well-rounded player than Paul is and that is without question. Paul has also played in very different systems than Zeke did.

That said, Paul is a great PG but some of you are really overrating him.

Just as an example, a player with a super high usage on a shitty team will have higher VOR. Same goes for Win shares. They are not equal across all eras.

Oscar is hard to rate/rank. You can call him a PG, SG, or SF and you’d have no argument from me. He’s probably the only player in NBA history with an argument of being top 5 at 3 different positions. Definitely would be a top 10 guy at any of those 3.
