Anybody know of somewhere in the Lafayette or Baton Rouge area that sells old ball gloves or anything vintage baseball related? I have always bought off of eBay and found some good stuff but I am looking for other sources.

Wow.
Sounds like genius.
Are you looking for a usable glove or just some old assed glove to display? To purchase a glove broken in sounds like a great idea.

I collect baseball stuff. Balls, gloves, programs, equipment or anything related to baseball. Mostly vintage stuff, pre 1960. I didn't think my original post was that hard to understand.

Always wanted to try one of these early 20th Century gloves just to see what it felt like.
Ozzie Smith glove was so huge in the early 80's for LL.

Mizzou. I have a couple of old split finger gloves like the ones you showed. They're really fun to play catch with every now and then and you don't have to worry about busting laces like you do if you choose play catch with a newer style vintage glove. It really takes you back.

That's cool.
I always just wondered how much padding was really there...and if it hindered anything...and how difficult it was old style securing the ball.
Baseball's history and memorabilia is so interesting.
I used to have a football...signed by every member of the 1956 NFL Champions New York Giants...but I played with it a little since I was a kid and unfortunately ruined it to a degree...but it was...almost a rugby ball.
But baseball is just fascinating in memorabilia and equipment. Good luck.

Check out auctions or places where ppl have their own booths to sell antiques. I used to have a big collection of antique baseball gear that we bought at auctions, you can see what'll be up beforehand, and we ended up selling them later in my mom's both where she sold antiques.
It was cool playing with the old gear, agree w other posters.

As far as padding and catchability goes... well each glove is unique. Almost every glove is different. Some of them really aren't that bad to catch with but some of them you wonder how they even kept it on their hand.

You're not going to find a brick and mortar that sells antique baseball stuff. You'd have to check antique stores or estate sales. Honestly your best bet is Ebay as far as pricing goes. There are also a couple of vintage sports collectibles forums that will have gloves pop up from time to time.
I have a few old split finger gloves I've picked up over the years. Most of them will sting the shite out of your fingers when you catch but it's fun playing catch with an old glove.
