Is there any difference between mens and womens curling? It doesn't strike me as a game where men would have a competitive advantage really...

As far as I can tell from watching today, no. Stones look the same size and all.

I'm just wondering if there really needs to be mens and womens and not coed teams. Not that I give a shite, just thinking out loud.

Earlier in the men's match they were talking about how none of the US men are "professional" and they all have other jobs away from the game...one is a bar tender, one a substitute teacher, etc. I thought that was really interesting.

I thought the men could not knock out a stone 'till they set a couple blockers first, looks like the women can hit any rock whenever they want.

Wikipedia didnt mention any specific differences between men and women, so I'm assuming its all the same for both.

Curling is pretty cool. It took me a minute to catch back up with what's goes on.. I hadn't watched any curling since 2006, but now I'm back in it.

It's a good Olympic sport, do not care about it all that much when not the Olympics, but I like watching it when it is on.

Same here, my g/f is an idiot though. She still hasn't figured out what the hell this game is about. Japan making some big shots.

Also, US is running low on time here. Under 10 minutes left and they still have one shot in this end and one more end, right?

That was a big miss. That might open the door back up for us to get a point here.

They play 10 ends, but is there a set time limit too?

They have 73 minutes and 2 time outs. The clock is continuously running as soon as its their turn until the stones stop moving. Not sure how many timeouts they have left, but they cant afford to dick around (vag around? lol)

Japan up one heading into this last end, and they throw the last stone. Bad position for the USA here (I think )
