No matter how unfair it is, this has a lot to do with it.
Oh I know. The media seemed to love him his whole career, but I think people liked him even more after he admitted to juicing. Though I'm positive he wasn't telling the truth on how much. Still, people were finally relieved that somebody actually admitted to it that they didn't mind if it was not completely true.
Also, next to Clemens--who he was attached to for most of his career in some capacity--looked like a much more sympathetic character.

I think he has a much better shot than most people think to make it into the HOF.

This is the thing that bothered me most about the whole steroid thing--the feigned righteous indignation of the media and Bud Selig. I did a report on steroids in 1988 when I was 10 years old. I could tell then that those Bash Brothers A's teams were all juiced up.
In 1998, at 20-years-old, I don't know of any one of my friends who didn't know that Sosa and McGwire were basically going up to bat with syringes hanging out of their asses. And you're telling me, that YOU didn't know, you who saw these dudes drop 500 foot bombs day after day, you who saw these monsters sans shirts in the clubhouse week after week, year after year--you did not know? You're either a ridiculous liar or incompetent as all frick. Either way, shut the frick up. And vote the numbers, not your self-righteously injected morality.

Oh, I think he gets in. I like Pettite a lot. And I'm certainly not arguing against his candidacy. Just the hypocricy of baseball writers. Some of them are so fricking insufferable.

It would be a joke if he gets in with subpar career numbers and after ADMITTING to steroids, and guys like Sosa, McGwire, Bonds, etc...with ridonculous numbers get left out. Strictly because Pettite was more likable.
Honestly, taking PEDS out of the equation, it would be an embarrassment if he made the HOF. His numbers just aren't good enough. His basic argument is all based around the fact that he was on dominant teams that outspent everyone.
Pettite was a very good pitcher who had a fantastic career. He has no business in the HOF, though.

He was a great postseason pitcher
I don't think this is even true. Basically he was in the postseason a lot because he was a Yankee and had some good performances.

Yankees are looking around at a couple left handers in the wake of Pettitte's retirement..
I hope to God if the Yankees do go after any of these guys, Joe Saunders is really not one of them.

The Yankees, who heard this week that Andy Pettitte will retire, have considered exploring trades for other left-handers, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). Joe Saunders, Scott Kazmir, Wade LeBlanc, Clayton Richard and Gio Gonzalez are among the possible targets some Yankees people have "kicked around."
