Wait! What happened? I thought the Heat were supposed to go undefeated and destroy everyone by 20.

I don't think Chalmers is a good fit for them. They need a shooter playing the point IMO. 2008 Eddie House would be perfect... this Eddie House not so much.

This thread is almost Rant worthy.

I've never seen so many people completely freaking out over the 1st game of an NBA season, LOL.

It's only one game, but I do wonder how Lebron on the Heat will affect Wade. They're both similar players and both have historically needed to have the ball in their hands to be effective

It will be interesting to see this team once they have games under there belt.

That being said, I think Wade's performance tonight can be attributed to just being rusty more than not being able to coexist with lebron.

They'll devour most of the east, and win a lot of games, but how anybody can see this team beating the Celtics, Magic, Lakers in a 7 game series is beyond me.

Well, the importance of the bench is greatly reduced in the playoffs. And this is the Heat's first game together after Wade missed the entire preseason due to an injury. They haven't had any time to play together at all. They may not win it all this year, but this trio will win at least one ring before their contracts are up

It's not like these guys aren't talented enough to still win a shite load of games. Still, though, their front court is still something to be concerned about as the season progresses.

CROWN TigerTig!!!!

Funny how I'm the supposed blind Lebron homer, but the guy who doesn't post much with no preconceived notions looking at this from an UNBIASED standpoint agrees with everything I said.

Without question.

And there rotations. I still contend that when Bron and Wade are on the court, they're doing themselves a big disservice by having a point guard on the court as well.

They shouldn't have turned Ericka Dampier away. The big question in a series against the Magic/Celtics/Lakers will be whether any of those teams front court size is enough to over come the ridiculous Lebron/Wade combination on the perimeter. Once those guys figure out how to play together they're going to be ridiculous both offensively and defensively

I definitely agree with that.

It just seems like (and I agree that it's WAY too early to tell, but it's a message board and it's fun to speculate) that the big 3 are going to have to play a shite-ton of minutes for this team to sustain success.

Injuries/fatigue have never bothered Lebron until the elbow last year, but Wade always seems to get dinged up and we have no idea how Bosh will be in the clutch since he's never really had a chance to show us. (Like Simmons mentioned, what's the most important game he's ever played in?)

It seems simple, but if their stars don't play excellent every night, then they won't win. There's just not a lot of depth to rely on.

I didn't realized they turned him down. But yea, if so, they coulda used a big body like Dampier.

Yea. Wade was rusty coming off injury, and Bosh just had a really bad shooting night. He's usually money with his midrange jumper.

In the playoffs, definitely.

BUt, I think they'll be able to run through the lesser teams in the regular season fairly easily, and that'll allow them to get a little more rest to save up for the playoffs.

But yea, they'll be playing tons of minutes in the playoffs, no doubt.

I thoroughly enjoy everyone going apeshit over one game. Hell, I'm a Celtics fan, but the Heat will be much better once they figure out eachother's game on the NBA stage.

I foreseen(is that even a word? lol) this coming for a while now.

This game was a toss up at best coming into it. Guys are acting like the Heat shoulda won by 20 and lost.

And I figured if they lost, the contingent of Lebron haters would immediately go overboard, and they have not disappointed.

Yep. Granted he didn't do himself many favors with the commercial either, but once he starts winning, everyone is going to hop right back on the GOAT bandwagon

I've been a Lebron defender at times, disappointed in him at other times...

But that commercial was the worst thing I have ever seen.

I agree with you, shel. It's amazing how people overreact to one game in which they lost to the defending EC champs. People should know there would be some sort of adjustment period as the players become accustomed to their roles.
