specifically making critical comments about the organization. Make that argument.
You think it’s smart to allow your employees to talk negatively in public about your company/you unfettered?
If that’s your stance, then it makes sense why you don’t understand this lol

have never heard of anything like that and can't believe any agent of a 1st or 2nd round pick, or major FA let them sign that clause
Apparently those players didn’t have an issue with not doing stupid shite and their agents had faith in their character lol

also believe that the language “conduct detrimental to football” is too vague and could easily be used by the team inappropriately.
If you’re unsure, just don’t do it. What action can be seen as ambiguous? Is it that hard to just shut up and play ball?
There’s also something about getting a warning first so you’re not just shite out of luck if you “didn’t know I couldn’t do that”

The language makes almost any action ambiguous, and the ambiguity plays 100% in the team’s favor. I’m all for accountability, but this can easily lead to players walking on eggshells in their personal lives. Again, I don’t have a problem with it if it only affects the guaranteed portion of the contract.

I think it’s better to focus your efforts on creating an organization and environment that doesn’t warrant negative speech over a gag order in the contract
I guess it’s not surprising the bengals are always at the bottom of the players report cards

Sure.
But players can be stupid sometimes no matter what sort of culture you have.

A player losing guarantees for, let's say being critical of the play calling, is not remotely the same is them losing guarantees for beating up their wife
Posted on 7/22/25 at 11:19 am to TackySweater
You keep saying “being stupid”. That clause isn’t about criminal activity, it’s speech about the organization.
It’s not the same
It’s not the same

I didn’t say it was.
Both are a dumb thing to do as an NFL player though.

I never said they were.

And both are stupid things to do as an nfl player.
I don’t know why this is so hard for people lol

Why is it stupid for players to criticize the organization? Be detailed and specific, if you can.

Perhaps you should self reflect then if everyone is saying you are being dumb
A thing can be subjectively stupid to you
That is different than something allowing all guarantees in a contract be voided

Wait. You don’t understand this?

You think it’s a smart move for an employee to openly talk negatively about his employer/organization/other employees?
Posted on 7/22/25 at 11:42 am to TackySweater
I want you to explain it. Keep in mind, unless explicitly stated otherwise, “criticizing the team” could include questioning a playcall, saying the team flight was bumpy, etc.
Explain why it’s stupid
Explain why it’s stupid

If you need that explained to you, then I apologize, I didn’t realize the level of stupid I was dealing with here lol

See above lol

So you won’t explain your stance?
Posted on 7/22/25 at 11:52 am to Helo
Mike Brown is far from a horrible person. Not a great owner I’ll give you. Been around him many times and he is about as a good person as they get.
Mike Brown - the man, not the owner
Mike Brown - the man, not the owner

You’re not someone worth discussing this with if you don’t understand why it’s a stupid action for an employee to openly criticize his employer/coworkers/bosses lol

So you won’t. That’s what I figured from you.
