19, those guys can't take everyone seriously, especially him, I'm sure a lot of shite is on his mind, it's hard to smile and keep obliging every fan out there like that, sooner or later you slip up, and when you do the fan that recieves it winds up holding it against you, like you.

True. But he could always just sign after his round for 5-10 minutes, then leave and get ready for tomorrow. And it doesn't take much effort to simply wave or nod your head.

Anyway, some of you guys are acting like I HATE Tiger, and I don't, at all. If I hated him, I'd be extremely pissed off he won, hope he ruins his career, etc. I'd just rather O'Hair win this one. There have been times before where I've cheered Tiger on, and wished him very well. You all are just extreme fans of him, and I'm not. That's it.

I suspect that's one reason Tiger plays early AM practice rounds. Doesn't have to contend with the large crowds early. With all of the media obligations he has at the end of each round, it doesn't leave much time for that and any practice he might want to get in.

Good for you.

It's not even that big of a deal. He's your favorite golfer. That's completely fine. He's not mine. If everybody liked the same things, this world would be a boring place.

I never said he was my favorite golfer, but to see Sean O'hair lose a 5 stroke lead and then limp in to win on a tiger bogey is not compelling to anyone I wouldn't think. Maybe if O'hair was making up 5 strokes on Tiger and had a chance to sink a putt on 18 I could see pulling for him to make the putt.

I wasn't pulling for him to win on a Tiger mistake, but on a birdie and Tiger par, yeah. I'm like you in not cheering for a guy hurting himself (unless it's someone like Sergio, then I find it funny).

What I said above is probably only .5 of the reason I hope Tiger doesn't have an extreme amount of success. The other half is because it sucks when the game, IMO, is SO reliant on one player (any player, even my favorite) to compete/be in the hunt. Golf was dead when Tiger got hurt last year. I feel some others need to step up. If O'Hair wins here, maybe there's a little thought from people, "OK, Tiger's the best in the world, but there can still be excitement, interest, and great competition, even when he doesn't win."

First of all, I'm very young, so that's a lie. Second, there's a HUGE difference between liking someone and respecting them. I don't like Tiger very much. I respect the hell out of him, though. He's amazing. I think as of now, Jack's still the GOAT (i.e. if Tiger retired today/never won again/got injured, etc), but I'd be stunned if it's not Tiger by the end of his career.

You don't have to justify not liking him. Tiger Woods may be the only athlete I've ever heard of where people just lose their minds if someone dares to not care for the guy. It's obvious you respect him and that should be enough. But you "need" to like him because he's a family man and gives to charity?

I've never really pulled for Tiger, but I've finally admitted to myself that we're witnessing the greatest competitor of our time, maybe of all time. I'm not sure how anyone can not admire the sheer commitment and resolve with this guy. Certainly with family commitments and injuries you can't predict the future, but I'd take Tiger vs. Fat Jack in their primes all day long.

I've kind of noticed this. In any other sport, if you don't like a team or player, nobody really cares, even a fan of that team/player. But a lot of people that are Tiger fans take offense if you don't like him. It doesn't really matter to me. I'd actually find it kind of interesting/cool (if I wasn't the one "targeted" ). Just a little surprising.

I don't think there is any question about that. We're truly watching history. But that's what I was getting at. I don't know of anyone who questions any of the praise you just posted. But for some reason, they get all bent out of shape if you simply say (as you did) that you never really pull for him. Why does that piss people off so much?

What's incredible about Tiger is that we expect him to win, every single time he tees it up. Its him against 100 other guys and he just dominates. Everyone at home watching their TV knew that putt on 18 was going in. He's just that good.

It's as if they lose all objectivity...you don't even have to go as far as saying you don't like him. You could say "man O'Hair really gagged today" and you'd get flogged for daring to suggest that it was anything other than Tiger playing lights out.

the fact is though, had it not been Tiger playing with him, and Tiger in 2nd, he probably wins. Not like Zach Johnson is going to strike fear in any one.

Tiger played good golf today. But O'Hair definitely gagged. Did he even have one birdie today?

to tell you the truth, even though the wins and the clutch shots are incredible, what's most impressive to me about the guy is that he seems to be in contention pretty much every single tournament he plays in. When you think of the nature of golf, that is a pretty astounding stat. Take a look at some of the names on the cut list every week and then remember that he's missed what, two cuts in the last 8-10 years? His cut streak that he had a while back is as impressive as his major totals IMO.

plus he's never out of a hole, most guys hit a bad shot and you can pretty much count on a bogey at a minimum. Tiger is a threat to make par or birdie from anywhere on the course.
