What, you thought Jerry Stovall or Lee Roy Jordan should have won?
Stovall came in second in the Heisman. He should have won it.
Stovall played both ways (had 7 interceptions on defense) for LSU that played in the SEC and went 8-1-1 that year and beat Texas in the Cotton Bowl. He went on to play in the NFL and was a three time pro-bowler.
Baker played for OSU in the pitiful Pac Ten and then finished the season in a Liberty Bowl tussle against perennial football power Villanova. The only significant pro playing time he got was with the Edmonton Eskimos.
Yea, if the Heisman is supposed to go to the best college football player, then I think Stovall should have won it.
