It's all about how they've branded themselves and congrats to UL for doing it. It's a good thing for the state if UL is doing well along with LSU. And its easier to get funding from alums when you brand as "UL" than ULL. I say good for them.

You don't get it do you? LSU is legally known as Louisiana State University Agricultural and Mechanical.. Texas is actually University of Texas-Austin ... Tennessee is actually Tennessee-Knoxville ... Alabama is actually University of Alabama Tuscaloosa.

I get the fact that there are more to the names than what people say but ULL has CHANGED THEIR NAMES at the minimum 3 times for advertising/strategic purposes etc.
