Eh, still a long way to go.

Penny Hardaway is the coach, what do you expect

7 minutes. 0 points. 4 or 6 turnover, can't remember.
2 months ago, do you think we'd be talking about even the possibility of the Grizzlies making the playoffs and the Tigers missing the NCAA tournament?

15 0 run to end the game was all on Penny. He just lost control and got out coached by Jank (which is dumbfounding )

Yep. I don't think he made any adjustment. And like the announcers said.... yeah, they moved the three point line back, but this far into the season, there's no excuse for getting an out of bounds call in the corner. None whatsoever.
I mean, I was all in on Penny. Still am. But I mean... c'mon. You have to coach. It's like he's got all this talent and he just says "OK, y'all go out there and ball. And hey... did you see my newest shoes?"

But didn’t you know? All you have to do is recruit top talent and roll the balls out like Cal.

I know all about Cal. I've actually seen him buy donuts. I feel like we are friends.

A good recruiter doth not make a good coach.

Memphis needs to hire Rick Pitino.

Not that I’m surprised in the least, but do you have to make every college basketball thread I’ve ever opened about Kentucky?

Are you not capable of scrolling on by? No? frick off.
Just making the point that you can’t just be a great recruiter without coaching/development. That seems to be Memphis’ issue (as they OP has said) and a valid point.

I do think that part of the problem is that many of these recruits came to Memphis with the expectation of playing with James Wisemen. When he was suspended, they still had that possibility, so they played hard. Seems like when he just flat left the team, they no longer had that possibility, so maybe they sort of quit trying, if that makes sense. Or at least they are playing differently.

It makes sense. You’d think though that Penny or someone would try to help them recognize they’re talented in their own right. It’s interesting considering they’re all shooting for the NBA but that kind of thing (the guy you came to play with leaving) happens all of the time.
