Murray has been A LOT more agressive this tournament. Would have to think it would only increase under Lendl

This is why I feel awful for Roddick when it comes to his reputation on grass.
He would have 4 Wimbledon titles if he wasn't playing in the same time period as the best grass court player of all time.
I agree with you.
But if I'm picking a guy to play on grass with my life at stake, I'm taking Pete Sampras circa 1995.

What's interesting about that is that Lendl REFUSED to come to the net when he played Wimbledon. And he never won it.

I mostly mean forehands. Murray has been playing more offense than usual

I was very impressed with Murray in the last two sets of the Baghdatis match.

I'm too young to have watched Lendl play, or anybody really
I first got in to tennis 2007 Wimbledon
What were Lendl's strengths?

Djokovic/Troicki is the last match scheduled to play on Centre Court, and Djoker just won.
Will they move one of the matches that is presently delayed over to Centre Court?

No Johnny Mac said there would be no more matches. And all the matches have been officially cancelled for the day

What were Lendl's strengths?
Lendl basically ushered in a new style of tennis: the power baseline game, which is now used by the large majority of players. He has been referred to as "The Father of Modern Tennis" for this reason.
Basically, Lendl had a good but not great backhand, and a really hard forehand. So he ran around his backhand a good deal and would attack with the forehand, often an inside-out forehand. He was able to hit it hard enough that it was an offensive play, allowing him to dictate points. If that sounds familiar, it's because a lot of guys do that today.
Also, Lendl was one of the first guys that *really* paid attention to fitness.
I fricking hated Lendl. I've never hated a tennis player as much as I hated Lendl.

He should still have 1 if he doesn't blow that terribly easy volley in the tiebreak in 09.

That match was a bummer. I'm not a huge Roddick fan, but I was definitely rooting for him to get that one.

How he lost that match I have no clue. That was one of the, if not the, best match I've ever seen him play.

Lost serve only once.....The last game. I almost cried like a bitch when he told Sampras he tried hard to hold off Fed

Thanks
I had heard about Lendl being the first fitness guy. Why did you hate him though?

He was up 6-2 in the second set tiebreak after winning the first set and blew that volley. Fed came back to take the set.
That match was the best I've ever seen his backhand. That's what kept Fed off balance the whole match. He wasn't expecting those backhands down the line.

And IMO he has never been the same since.

I think losing to Yen-hsun Lu in the 4th round in 2010 took as much out of Roddick that the 09 final did. It seems like that match killed him.

But if he wins in 09 then he prob doesn't lose in 10.

I generally dislike ugly people, and Lendl is a really ugly dude.
Also, I generally like people with a bit of personality, and Lendl may have actually had negative personality, if that were possible. He was stiff. Completely unemotional. Seemed like a real dick.
Plus, he just seemed generally weird. He put sawdust in his pocket, and stuck his hands in his pocket between points to keep his hands dry. Who keeps sawdust in their pocket?
