This is when I knew without a doubt the NBA was rigged.

and guess who that #26 ref under the basket looking directly at the play is...

I DO believe the NBA influences games. The simple fact that THEY ALONE assign refs knowing their tendencies and biases proves that.
BUT, I think the NBA is more concerned about story lines, marketing, and future contractual bargaining power with television companies. Stern would love this to go 7 games to pump up Durant and OK. Games 3 and 4 proved that.
In this game, OK has twice as many free throws with the Lakers being extremely aggressive. If anything, I think the refs are trying to keep OK in the game.

I agree with this 100%.

At this point in the game they are trying to keep OKC in the game. In the first quarter OKC couldn't buy a FT.

The Sacramento Kings are the 2002 NBA champs.

That's why they shot more free throws than the Lakers in that series?

No one is going to argue with that
But saying this this Laker game/series is fixed (when the Thunder have more FTs and the Lakers have been called for more fouls and Kobe had 2 total FTs in 2 games in OKC) is fricking ridiculous.

You can't look at the series as a whole. You could hypothetically outscore your opponent by 100 over a seven game series but still lose the series.

But YOU can with this series...

Series are won by individual games. The league never wants sweeps. Of course they are going to do whatever is in their power to extend series. This means the other team will get calls in those respective games.

So you are admitting then that the NBA stepped in and basically handed games 3 and 4 to Oklahoma?

You can't look at a cumulative stat across all games. I don't believe I said to look at something of that sort...correct me if im wrong...

I only watched the second half of both games...even then sparingly...so my judgment wouldn't be as good as this game.
...but I wouldn't doubt it...Durant vs Kobe is a great storyline..

BTW, I emailed the NBA about their mysterious Referee assignments, etc.
This was their response:
quote:
We see the trends. We know how the games are being influenced. We are not stupid. The NBA is suffering because the league insults our intelligence. Stop meddling in the games and let the players play without tying to make superstars and story lines.
This was their response:
quote:
Dear NBA Fan,
Thank you for contacting the National Basketball Association with your concerns regarding officiating. The NBA’s highest priority is to ensure that every game is determined on its merits, thus providing its fans with a truly fair and competitive league.
We take seriously the performance of our officials. They are subjected to incredible scrutiny by the league, including tracking every call they make and holding them to the most rigorous standard in all of sports. Not only is their past performance measured, charted, and evaluated, but we employ a system of stringent metrics designed to continually hone their skills and improve their overall ability. We strive to ensure that NBA games are officiated at the highest possible level with the understanding that perfection is an unattainable goal.
Thank you again for your concern. We appreciate your feedback regarding this issue.
Sincerely,
NBA Fan Relations
