It amazes me where this Braves team is, considering only 2 of our bats are performing at or above where we expected and our manager is a total buffoon. Remarkable, really.

If we ever start actually hitting

Braves offense is really quite strange. check these NL stats:

tied for 3rd in HRs (91, 8 behind MIL)
9th in runs scored
9th in doubles
dead last in triples
dead last in stolen bases

if this team stops hitting bombs it's going to get rough quick

He wasn't THAT big.

Also, Heyward looks even worse at the plate live than he does on TV, if that is possible. At some point it stops being a slump and starts becoming a problem. I think he is still hurt and they rushed him back.

you would think a team that hits so many homers would have a lot more triples than that. maybe it goes hand-in-hand with the lack of SBs.. no team speed. i'm guessing Turner field is pretty friendly to hitters (HR wise) and outfielders (holding a runner at 2nd on one off the wall)?

and you would think with a .306 OBP and .237 AVG (both 14th in the NL) they wouldn't have that many RBI

like i said.. a very strange offensive production so far this season.

I really think that's his "approach."

I've been doing some research looking at our patience, etc. On pace for about 100 fewer walks this year... homers are up but runs scored down.

Not really. It's about 330 to the corners and 400 to center. It's a big outfield. You don't have to hammer one for it to go out, but there aren't any gimmes either.

It's mostly just that none of the 3 guys on our roster that have the speed to leg out a triple on a gapper (Heyward, Schafer, and McLouth) ever hit any.

That's correct.

It plays pretty large, actually. Not Citi or Petco big, but it's pretty spacey.

They're very good with RISP. They have the second best avg. in the NL with RISP, but have the least amount of opportunities by a long shot.
