I've been bored at work all day trying to come up with some realistic trade scenarios and I can't find anything I think would work

There's not any major league players right now that make a whole lot of sense for this team, that are achievable

The best I can come up with is the guy I wanted us to trade for last year, CF Lorenzo Cain, but I don't know if he's available. hitting .311/.376 with a .902 OPS in AAA this year with 10 HR and 8 SB. He hit .306 with the Brewers last year in 147 AB.

There are just not many players that seem to fit.

The White Sox recently sent assistant general manager Dave Yokum to scout some Braves games for pitching. Cafardo specifically cites Brandon Beachy as a starter the Sox were watching and says that Beachy or Derek Lowe could be shopped by Atlanta in exchange for a hitter. I think it's obvious the Braves would prefer to move the expensive Lowe rather than a young, controllable pitcher like Beachy, but if the Braves wanted to pick up a big bat like Carlos Quentin (as Cafardo speculates), Atlanta certainly has the pitching depth to spare.

Yeah, that's what got me started on my search to find trade partners

Noone from the White Sox or their minor league teams intrigue me

If we ship Lowe, yes

Beachy, no

Braves are in a great situation this season. EVERYBODY is looking for pitching and the Braves are one of the few teams that have extra solid guys to deal. if they don't make a smart/big move the front office seriously fricked up.

Someone on one of the Braves blogs suggested Rajai Davis from the Bluejays. His overall numbers suck, but his splits against lefties are pretty solid. Nate has been at least decent against righties this year, so a platoon might work. It would at least be cheap.

I don't think we are going to find a long term solution to center until the offseason though. Even then, it will probably be difficult. The Dodgers would demand a king's ransom for Kemp. BJ Upton is basically Schafer with power and a slightly better OBP.
Cameron Maybin might work, but I don't know if he would be a long term solution.

There's no doubt. I believe the Braves are in a better position than anyone else in the majors.

The problem is finding a legit trade partner that has what we need and is willing to give it up, and that's someone at SS and CF
