so what are the odds Chipper retires as a player and takes over Pendleton's spot as hitting coach? I mean he's as smart of a ball player as youll find but hes just getting old. Body cant quite function at the level of some of those around him

but does being owed that much mean he'll be serviceable for even a half next year? I mean what's going to get more worth out of him: let him slowly fade out as a younger player takes over more and more throughout the next two seasons the tune of $26 mil or encourage him to retire but remain as the clubhouse leader he is in the form of a coach. I mean the guy is our modern day Dale Murphy, if not more.
