The post he is referring to

Crim
quote:

Are you saying you would rather have a guy that might homer every 10 days than someone batting .340?

Dan

quote:

There's so many incomplete things about that comparison, it's really not even something to consider.

I'd rather look at the whole player.

Chris Johnson is having a career year and his value is entirely comprised of his high BA. That's it. No power. No defense. No walks.

But he's having a better year than Uggla, yes. His OPS+ is 28 points higher, despite the fact that he's not even a lock to get to double-digit homeruns.

What we do know, is that it's entirely likely Dan Uggla hits 20+ bombs again next year. At least 19. Because he's done that every single year he's played major league baseball.

CJ has hit .300 one other time, and it was only in about half a season of PAs. He also has a lot of indicators that his .338 average is due for a downturn. He's a .266 career hitter in August and a .277 career hitter in September. July is easily his best month.

Yep, I'm worried about what he did with some other ball club.

I don't need stats to say CJ blows Dan and his yearly 92 RBI out of the water with this one, singular grouping of 3/4ish of a season.

I am sure Angels fans are throwing out Hamilton's stats at Texas. And don't act like that is any different. It is the same.

I can see it now. Angels fans booooing and their White Lobster saying "but his career stats or his stats the past few years are..."

Yep. And every time Chris Johnson gets a hit I boo, yell, "but a couple years ago you were so bad when you had a league average BABIP the Astros sent you to AAA," then try to hit him in the head with a D battery but come up short and hit Pendleton (cause he's on first base with a limp dick single)

And we care what he did with the Astros in his early years? You are just proving my point. I wonder what the White Lobster of the Red Sox was saying about Carl Crawford? He kicked arse with the Rays?

Javy Lopez is available if Gattis isn't ready to go full time next year.

Wow. Don't know what to do?

I also don't care what a Brave did in previous years. You should know this. By the way, Javy sucked.
