Not injury
I'm surprised he got the day off. He's been hitting some balls pretty hard the last few games, but he doesn't have much to show for it.

he hit a damn hard ball off Hanrahan last night in the 9th, Walker just happened to be in perfect position. get that lead man on and could have been a different ball game for sure.

strong belief now best beltran offer may come from #rangers. 1 hangup: he prefers nl. atl, sf, milw still in, #tradedeadline

Considering what we would have to give up:
Who do you want to trade for the most and what order?
Upton
Byrd
Willingham
Pence
Beltran

i just don't see how the Braves will get Beltran without giving up one of these guys?

if i were the Braves i'd go hard after Marlon Byrd. he's EXACTLY what y'all need. a really good CF defensively with a good avg/obp + some pop.

I mean, I don't know what each team is asking so I'll list in order of preference
1. Beltran, if just a couple mid tier prospects
2. Pence. I'm not his biggest fan but he does provide offensive help. He's been lucky so far this year and I am very skeptical about his ability to play CF this year and next(if Chip doesn't retire).
3. Byrd. Only because I'm not Upton's biggest fan.
4. Upton. I mean you know what he's going to give you. Solid defense, low OBP, legit speed. I think everyone would be pretty frustrated with him for the most part.
5. Willingham

the Braves’ .285 on-base percentage against lefties is a full 20 points lower than the next-worst in the NL, the Nationals’ .305.
Their .211 batting average vs. lefties is 12 points lower than the league’s next-lowest, and their .342 slugging percentage is 10 points below that of any other NL team against lefty pitchers.

Meanwhile, the Braves lead the league in strikeouts (258) and at-bats (1,019) against lefties. No other team has as many as 950 at-bats vs. lefties. Oh, yes, you better believe opponents are using lefties as often as they can against the Braves.

boy i hope Jonathon Sanchez is off the DL by mid-August. him + Bumgarner + Lopez + Affeldt = at least a split of the 4 game series.

I agree with Beltran being #1 most wanted if mid-level prospects.
2nd I'd want Byrd. Like R2R said he has good OBP and avg. I'd like him in this lineup. Also, Proven good CF unlike Pence + we could maybe get him for less.

Beltran would be tops for me, as well.
If we got good B.J. Upton, he'd be easy 2nd for me. But you never know what you get from him... and we need a guy who can make an impact now... not a guy who we need to wait and see on. If this was the offseason, Beej would be my no. 1 because he's an elite CF with tremendous tools, entering his prime.
I wanted Byrd last year, and my feelings are still the same. And while I think Byrd would make the team better, he's not exactly a game changer IMO.
All those stats posted show why we really do need a RH bat more than a guy like Bourn.

B.J. = good athlete, not good baseball player

he's been a good baseball player before...
and even his "bad" is going to end up with something like a 25/40 season.

Schafer scratched and likely headed to DL.

Well we already know that we are going to get either Beltran, Upton, Pence, Bourn, Byrd, etc because Shafer is out. Its really just a waiting game to see what happens.

He hwurt his wittle finger like 5 games ago sliding into a base
It's not like he was hitting anyways, should just put him in and tell him to lean into pitches
