Understood, but most are locked up for awhile. Don't see why we can't sign a big name in the very near future...

Unless of course like Swamp said, we can hammer out some home discount contracts for most of those guys.
Hopefully they all enjoy ATL and like playing together.
And don't secretly hate each other like 31 and I do.

Because if we sign someone big, we wouldnt be able to keep them when it's time for them to get paid brah

teamwise, yes
but these guys are going to be hitting arbitration very soon and they will get payed pretty handsomely then
it's going to be hard for us to keep all of these guys intact without spending money elsewhere, on a "Evan Longoria" type. We might need a change of ownership just to keep our core guys together
We're going to be fairly cheap for the next couple years. But wait till 2014-2016 and the money we're going to have to spend is going to be crazy high

No major free agent is going to accept something like a 2 or 3 year contract though. By the time the young guys get to arbitration/free agency, anyone we sign this offseason or next will still be on the books.
Off topic, but does anyone know if Scott Boras represents anyone on our team besides Jurrjens?

Well motherfricker....
We might not be able to keep either of them then.

You'll get your guy when we trade Jurrjens
but it'll be someone who's off the books by the time 2015 rolls around most likely

We'll afford one, which is why you always hear JJ trade rumors
the team values Hanson more, and if we're not going to be able to keep JJ, then why not trade him when his value is at his highest point
this team NEEDS to win a championship in the next 4 years, and I think it will

The Hanson saga is going to be interesting to watch. He's the Braves wonder boy who's being guided by the greatest of enemies (Boras). Will Bravos waive their "won't deal with Boras" clause?

You sure about that? If Hanson is a Boras client, chances are he is going to wait and see what his market value is. If he continues to improve as a player, that could take us out of contention.

we signed Lowe

yes
one of these pitchers will be with the Braves long term, one won't
I promise you that

We did with D-Lowe, but we were really desperate for pitching.
4 years/$60,000,000

I'll just believe it when I see it. I don't trust our front office to play Boras' games. He's going to shoot for the moon and we are basically going to have to cross our fingers and hope he doesn't get it. The problem is that teams like the Yankees and Red Sox can afford to pay a guy more than he is worth to ensure that they get him. We can't. Unless that guy happens to be a mediocre sinker baller who is being paid ace money despite being a back of the rotation pitcher.

I don't hate anyone. I hate stupidity. Something that you possess a massive amount.

If Rasmus is worth acquiring he's not available. The Cardinals know what they're doing.
