Give Gattis some time to practice OF and more 1B.

So you are going to sit Jup, Heyward, or Freeman? Don't go full retard.

So what would you do when McCann comes back?

Keep all 3 C at the MLB level.

Keep McCann and Laird up and option Gattis back to Gwinnett to catch every day and get ready as possible starter in 2014

Keep McCann and Gattis up and send Laird through waivers.

Would you try to trade McCann in hopes that you can get something back instead of letting him walk into free agency at the end of the year?

Keep him in hopes of resigning him?

SO MANY QUESTIONS BRAVES FANS!!!!

I think 3/4 of a month is not enough for us to get stupid about trading McCann. Let McCann play it out and let him go after this year if GAttis and Bethancourt prove one of them can get us by.

Gattis is in a major slump right now. Went from batting well over .320 to at .246 in a short amount of time. I'm not saying I'm not very impressed, but I'm saying John Buck is beast moding it right now too, even better than Gattis is, and I wouldn't be ready to crown John Buck as a the next great hitting catcher.

My opinion is probably unpopular, but send Gattis back down to AAA to get more seasoning and bring him back in Aug/Sept.

Or, keep all 3 and send Schafer down. Jupton or heyward can step into CF if BJ goes down. Reed can also play a good enough CF. Use Gattis like we used David Ross last year and it also frees you up to PH GAttis as well to get him some ABs.

I think he has to unless you plan on keeping him up strictly to pinch hit which doesn't make sense. Send him down so he can catch everyday and get better.

Bingo. Its one thing if we had the dh which we don't, we have no where to play him and tbh schafer has proven his worth. I'd rather have him over gattis in a bench role

Platoon Gattis and McCann. Gattis hits lefties, McCann against righties

I think you see Gattis stay up and is the primary backup for LF, 1B, and C. He should see around 3 starts a week that way, and be primary pinch hitter.

Plus, it's highly doubtful Mac jumps straight into being full time catcher right off the bat coming back from injury, I would imagine he and Gattis might straight up split starting duties 50/50 until Mac gets back in the swing of things.

Why wouldn't he?That's what the minor league rehab assignment is for, to get him up to speed.

The Braves are sad to announce the passing of former pitcher Rick Camp. Camp is best known for his game tying HR in the 18th inn on 7/4/85.

Good piece on Minor's success this season:

LINK

Have we reached a point where we should just trust our front office on home grown pitchers?

Seems like we rarely miss there and know when to pull the plug when we do (Hanson).

That was an incredibly good read. I was so pissed when we drafted Minor. Granted he gained another tick on his fastball after he was drafted but, I WAS PISSED. I wanted Wheeler badly. frick YOU SAN FRAN
