Especially knowing that Djokovic and Thiem are going to be the two favorites at the US Open, anyways.

Let those two battle it out in New York. Both of them will likely be out of energy by the later stages of Roland Garros.

Very good point.

Any of y’all interested in the Adria Tour today? There are some quality players scheduled. Right now it’s the Kraut Zverev vs Petrovic.

I thought the twitter mobs may have put a stop to it. Good to see they are doing their thing.

Yea Bunk, I’m glad they didn’t buckle to the criticism as well. Novak is warming up now about to play. I’m really missing Roland Garros right now. The French Open always got me through June and Wimbledon through July since I’ve been alive. Don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone is not just a cliché.

The camera angle in this Tsitsipas and Thiem match is incredible. First time I have ever watched a match on TV and felt the pace and spin.

It was just a simple court level camera behind the player. I have never really watched a match that gave you this type of feel. I've only seen practice videos like it.

Good lord the speed and footwork.

And that Thiem volley at 2:11.

ETA: I'm usually not a big fan of the attempts to make tennis more youth-friendly, but formats like this may be the wave of the future. I like the camera angle, the use of nicknames ("The Hammer" Berrettini, "Greek God" Tsitsipas), the shorter sets, and some of the other gameplay additions. It feels a little video game-ish, but that might be what the sport needs.

Younger fans can't sit through 4 hours of tennis these days. And they need to be impressed by the talent for their interest to be piqued imo.

ETA2: Didn't notice they were playing timed quarters instead of sets. That would explain those crazy Tsitsipas/Paire scores.

I never really thought of tennis being played that way. It would bring up some interesting strategy dynamics. The player with the lead late in the quarter would just need to extend the length of points, sort of like milking the clock in football. And the opponent would have to ramp up the aggression and make more first serves.

So I'm assuming the Djokovic Tour and any other exhibition events have been put on hold for now?

This is so ridiculous.

I saw something about how Novak wouldn't be tested in Serbia. Looks like Borna tested positive. Zverev tested negative, but is apologizing for playing. We're not going to have real tennis this year.

To cracka's point, I wouldn't mind seeing some tournaments with the unique scoring. I like extra points for winners. I don't think majors will ever change, though.

Me neither. I just like it as a change of pace. Although I could see slams going best-of-3 in the near future.

Looks like it, with the self-isolation nonsense.

It's seemingly going okay in golf so far. I know there's way more international travel in tennis, which is the key here.
