Fed is totally bored and retweeting pics with ex champions and random people issuing weird challenges.

There's some chatter about moving the Open to Miami or Palm Springs, but it would have to be pushed back to November or December in either case.

Downside: Both cities are full of olds
Upside: Much more spread out than NYC

Bonus for Fed fans: He would have a better shot imo at IW than in NYC.

Was the MSB always littered with useless millenials, or is that a new thing since the virus? I only follow this thread and the poli board mostly, so I’m out of the loop.

I do find myself saying “damn I’m old” a lot more often lately, so maybe it’s just me.

I have been on here infrequently.

ETA: This might be the year for me to go if crowds are smaller and tickets are cheaper.

Awesome. I'm on the brink mentally now and need some bits and pieces of good news. If college football gets messed with, I will try to get there.

Is RG still rolling in the fall? I saw some rumors they would push back another week to at least have a couple weeks between majors.

That’s what I’m seeing, the 27th, but they said they won’t do it without spectators.

I think people don’t realize how quickly we went from “meh... a virus” to massively overreacting and thinking the world is ending.

The same can happen in reverse as the truth comes out, although it’s a lot tougher fighting against the media.

I'm so bored I watched the 2012 U.S. Open women's final.

US Open could move to Indian Wells this year

US Open could be moved to Indian Wells in November

Not sure if I love or hate the idea.

I think it would be pretty cool for a one time thing, especially since Indian Wells was cancelled this year. Not sure how the hard courts there in November would differ from the hard courts in hot late summer New York City.

Opelka and Kecmanovic are playing on a court that appears to be in a backyard.

I like the camera angle though.

The pro tours are on hold during the coronavirus pandemic, but the schedule is filling up with other competitions. Two more national events have been announced in Germany and Austria over the next few weeks. Government restrictions have been lifted in the two countries, allowing events to be held with local players if safety protocols are followed.

The first is the Generali Pro Series in Austria, in two-and-a-half weeks, a round-robin competition featuring 16 men and 8 women. The men's field includes world No. 3 Dominic Thiem along with Dennis Novak, Sebastian Ofner and Jurgen Melzer, while the women's field includes Barbara Haas and Tamira Paszek. There will be no spectators, ballkids, or linespeople. It offers more than 150,000 Euros.

Bunk, any news on the tour starting back up? I haven’t heard about any cancellations in Newport, Atlanta, Washington, etc. There’s a tourney in Sweden the same week as Newport. I would think they would be more apt to allow it than most countries.

I haven't been paying close attention to many details. I think I heard that the U.S. Open wants to make a decision around June 1. Roland Garros is flirting with no fans and moving back a week.

I think Collins, Anisimova and two other women will be playing on that Florida court next week. At court level, I assumed they were in a tennis center or park. I laughed when they pulled back and showed it is some rich guy's court.

Would player prize money have to be significantly less if this happened?

That's a good question. I think cracka has made the point that many events can't run without ticket revenue. I suppose the majors might have enough TV money that they can be played without fans, but I'm not sure to what extent.
