ok karma, ive looked over this deal, and seriously, i just dont see an advantage to be had here for me

every place but one that i have looked for has dirk rated ahead of kg and iverson rated ahead of kevin martin. even if dirk and kg are a wash, iverson is much higher rated than martin, especially in that nuggets offense.

yall can call me a bitch or a NOBODY or whatever yall want to, but im just not making this trade, and i will figure out how i want to handle arenas in the next day or two

From the spanish guy on CBS:

Potential Busts:

quote:

Gilbert Arenas, G, Washington: Last season, many Fantasy owners chose to ignore the warning signs with Dwyane Wade and paid for it. Wade was a young Fantasy stud whose production was just too enticing to pass up despite a bum knee and shoulder. Many a Fantasy season was wrecked by that kind of brashness and there are some of the same warning signs with Arenas. He's coming off major knee surgery and showed he was not fully recovered toward the end of last season when he returned and averaged just 14.6 points in April. Still, his potential to average 30 points along with five-plus assists, four-plus rebounds and over a steal per game make for quite the siren's song. But is he all the way back from his injury? It took Wade over a year to fully regain the explosiveness that earned him the nickname Flash. How long will it take the Hibachi to heat up?

Baron Davis, G, L.A. Clippers: He'll be drafted in the first round in most cases. But is he really worth the risk there? After all, up until last season he'd been an injury-riddled Fantasy headache in each of the previous five seasons. Last year, he put up career numbers, but -- surprise, surprise -- it came in a contract year for him. That's not to say that he can't have another good season. He certainly can. But consider that part of what made him such a Fantasy hero in 2007 was that his average draft position was 26th overall. That means he was going in the third round in most leagues. He'd be a fair value there again this year, but that's not going to happen after the numbers he put up last season. As a first rounder, his history of injuries and the fact he's no longer playing for the free-wheeling Warriors creates a risk factor that's not what you want in a first rounder. Let somebody else take that risk and play it safe with as close to a sure thing as you can find.

Marcus Camby/Chris Kaman, C, L.A. Clippers: Not to pick on the Clippers, but there's just too much uncertainty concerning these two players to put a lot of trust in them in Fantasy this season. Both had excellent years in 2007. Camby finished fourth overall among Fantasy centers in scoring (in standard head-to-head play) and Kaman was right up there all year long until he got hurt late in the year. But Kaman's breakout year came with Elton Brand injured for most of the season and Camby was the primary rebounder and shot blocker in Denver. Now, it's going to be interesting to see how the two co-exist in the L.A. frontcourt, but it's safe to say that Kaman won't be able to do 12.7 rebounds and Camby won't be able to do 13.3 again. One of these two players is going to blink, falling in value to that of a No. 2 center. Do you want to be stuck with that grenade?

Manu Ginobili, G, San Antonio: A career season in 2007 will likely boost his value in Fantasy to that of an early round pick. After all, the Argentine did finish 20th among all guards in Fantasy last season in total points scored. His previous career-high in scoring was 16.5. He averaged 19.5. His previous career high in assists was 3.9. He averaged 4.5. And so on, and so on. He had a terrific season, yes, but he also had a pretty good Olympic tournament for Argentina in the offseason in yet another offseason in which he didn't rest. He twisted his ankle, too. He had to have surgery to repair ligament damage on the same ankle the hobbled him late last season and during San Antonio's playoff run and may not be fully healthy by the time the start of the season rolls around. And, with his hard-nosed approach, it's unlikely that will be the only injury he has to deal with this season. So while his numbers last season elevated his value in Fantasy drafts to an early-round pick, selecting him as your No. 1 Fantasy guard would set you up for a letdown.

Corey Maggette, F, Golden State: He led the Clippers in scoring last season in a career year. But that came on a team that was without its biggest star for the majority of the season. The Clippers did not have many proven scoring options. The Warriors don't have that problem. Whether it's Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson, Al Harrington, Andris Biedrins or Kelenna Azubuike, the Warriors have plenty of players who can put the ball in the basket. Ellis will be hurt for the first month of the season and that should allow Maggette to get off to a decent start, but things will get a lot tighter around December once Ellis is back in the rotation. And Maggette will now be exposed to head coach Don Nelson's erratic rotation. He could be getting heavy minutes one night and not so much the next. Ask anybody who has owned Al Harrington the last two years how frustrating that gets.

Shawn Marion, F, Miami: He's been a Fantasy deity since 2000 and for good reason. He has done it all. He's been a great scorer, excellent rebounder, a crafty crook, a savvy swatter and a decent passer. He's drained the outside shot with regularity, made free throws and shot the ball at over a 48-percent clip over his career. But all of that came in Phoenix on a team that catered to him. Now in Miami, he's part of a team that is being built around Dwyane Wade and now Michael Beasley. And it's Beasley's presence that could inhibit Marion's production the most. In many ways, Beasley is seen to be a young Marion and he also plays the same position, which could force Marion to small forward. With Beasley and Udonis Haslem around, the rebounds should drop this season for The Matrix. Marion, who has been a first-rounder for years, saw 30 forwards score more Fantasy points than him in 2007. The signs don't point to a resurgence in 2008.

Andre Miller, G, Philadelphia: He changed his game for the good of the team, shifting from passer to scorer for the Sixers last fall. But with Elton Brand now in town and Andre Iguodala now one of the premiere players in the league, he won't be relied upon quite as heavily as a scorer. That could mean a return to his pre-2007 stats. In 2006, he averaged 13.4 points, 7.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds. Obviously, those numbers are more than suitable for Fantasy owners, but they'll be looking for more coming off last season.

Steve Nash, G, Phoenix: After averaging over 18 points per game in each of his previous two seasons, Nash saw his scoring numbers decline in 2007. He averaged 16.9 points, but still averaged over 11 assists for the third time in four seasons. The question surrounding his Fantasy value this fall concerns the loss of head coach Mike D'Antoni. Nash has averaged over 10 assists in each of the last four seasons, despite never averaging more than 8.8 in his eight previous years in the NBA. The four years all came under the tutelage of D'Antoni. There is definitely the potential for a letdown season, but Nash will be sought after in the first or second round of most Fantasy leagues anyway.

Hedo Turkoglu, F, Orlando: There was no better value in Fantasy last season than Turkoglu. His average draft position was 117th overall, yet he finished 22nd overall in total Fantasy points scored. He caught everybody by surprise, but rest assured that won't happen again this fall. The 19-5-5 line he averaged last season will have him going in the first few rounds come Draft Day and it may be a stretch to expect such numbers from him again. Unfortunately, the odds are higher for him to fall short of that production than for him to exceed his draft value. He's no sure thing to repeat, considering the team added Mickael Pietrus this offseason. Not to mention that he suddenly broke out at 29 years old under the right conditions. But one things for certain, he won't out-produce his value.

Sleepers:

ike Conley, G, Memphis: With Juan Carlos Navarro going back to Spain, the path is cleared for the second-year player out of Ohio State to have a big year. Conley was brought along slowly in Memphis and a big part of the reason was Navarro's presence and emergence as a valuable guard for the Griz. Another reason was the 29 games he missed due to shoulder and rib injuries. Memphis worked him out this summer in the Las Vegas summer league and he's coming into the season as the team's primary point guard. Expect more minutes and therefore more production from him in his sophomore season.

Chris Duhon, G, New York: Don't laugh. Duhon actually has a few things going for him now in a new situation in New York. For one thing, he's got a chance to start. Granted, that hasn't always meant automatic production for Duhon. He got a chance to start for the Bulls last season but averaged just 6.5 points in those games and had to be replaced. However, he did manage 5.7 assists in those 18 games and now could be running the show for Mike D'Antoni, an offensive mastermind who turned Steve Nash from a solid NBA guard into an NBA MVP. Don't expect the same kind of transition for Duhon, however, but the potential is there for a serious rise in his overall production, hence the sleeper vote.

Rudy Fernandez, G, Portland: In the mold of Jose Calderon and Juan Carlos Navarro, Fernandez is a Spanish guard coming over ready to contribute. Plug him in and see what he can do, that's what the Blazers are going to do this season. Fernandez has played the last seven seasons for DKV Joventut Badalona of the Spanish ACB League, widely considered to be the most competitive in Europe. There, he averaged 21.2 points, 4.1 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals last season, leading his team to two titles in one year (ULEB Cup and Copa Del Rey). Even Michael Jordan couldn't win two NBA titles in one year. Fernandez may not start on opening night. He may not even start 25 games this season, but the Blazers will surely find him around 30 minutes to give them a boost in scoring to take some of the load off Brandon Roy in the backcourt. He's a good enough passer that he could become the team's regular point guard at some point. There is real value here. Fernandez could end up being the steal of Fantasy drafts this season.

Marc Gasol, C, Memphis: Here's another Spaniard ready to make an impact in his first year in the NBA. Pau’s younger brother will get a chance to follow in his footsteps in the same city where Pau grew into an NBA star. The Lakers drafted him in the second round in 2007, but never played a game for Los Angeles as he continued to play in Spain, where he's spent each of the past five seasons. He was named the MVP of the ACB League in Spain last year after averaging 16.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks for Akasvayu Girona. He'll get a chance to play in Memphis and while it's unlikely he'll repeat that kind of production in his first NBA season, he could be in line for low-end double digit scoring and solid rebound and block totals that would make him a No. 2 center in most leagues. That's not bad for a player that will be available late in drafts.

Francisco Garcia, F, Kings: With Ron Artest now in Houston, Garcia will get a big spike in playing time. He showed last year what he can do when given the chance to play, averaging 16.4 points in 20 games as a starter. John Salmons should be in for a breakout year in Sacramento as a result, but Garcia will go under the radar as another player who will benefit from the added playing time. He offers double-digit scoring, high shooting percentages and at least a three-pointer and a steal per game.

Yi Jianlian, F, New Jersey: Yi was the Nets' primary return in the Richard Jefferson deal, so they'll certainly be looking to feature him prominently in his second NBA season. He was a disappointment in Milwaukee, but was also a bad fit on that team in more ways than one. Not only was he not happy with playing in a small market in Milwaukee without much of an Asian fan base, but the Grizzlies were also trying to make him a back-to-the-basket big man, something he is not. The Nets will use him on the post, but much like Nenad Krstic developed as a spot-up shooting seven-footer in New Jersey, Yi will have the chance to do the same. He's more comfortable shooting from the outside facing the rim and New Jersey could end up using him as a small forward, a role that better suits his skills. Yi's poor rookie season will make him available in the late rounds in most Fantasy formats, which could be a real steal for a player who should average double digits in scoring and more than five rebounds per game.

Kenyon Martin, F, Nuggets: K-Mart is an oldie, but he can be a goodie for Fantasy owners this season. With Marcus Camby no longer in Denver, the Nuggets severely lack a low post presence and Martin is the logical choice to step up. Nene is currently penciled in as the team's starting center, but he's not expected to be an impact player. K-Mart was a Fantasy stud in New Jersey, but injuries and lack of a prominent role in Denver limited his appeal since he was traded back in 2004. Last year, however, he played 71 games and proved he could be trusted again in a resurgent season in which he average 12.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. Expect each of those figures to rise.

Mickael Pietrus, F, Orlando: Pietrus fell out of the mix in Golden State, but he'll head to Orlando this season and will instantly become a starter at shooting guard. He started 16 games last year for Golden State (15 at small forward and one at center), so it will take him five games to pick up center eligibility in commissioner leagues that allow dual eligibility. But he'll carry guard/forward eligibility for the majority of the season and will be a nice source for three-point shooting to go with double-digit scoring, a few rebounds and an assist or so per game. He'll be an afterthought in most drafts, but is a good value.

Rodney Stuckey, G, Detroit: He really came on in the second half of last season, averaging 9.2 points, 3.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 30 games after the All-Star break. And that came with just 21.4 minutes of playing time while backing up Chauncey Billups. As an example of what Stuckey could offer with more playing time, consider that he averaged 14.0 points, 4.2 assists and 3.3 rebounds in nine April games while seeing 27.3 minutes per game. The Pistons are in the midst of shaking up their rotation and there has even been talk of shipping Billups out in the offseason. Billups could be traded by the trade deadline this season, but Stuckey will see more of a commitment to his development this season even if there is no trade.

Marcus Williams, G, Warriors: This one is still a little bit of a work in progress, but the potential for a big improvement is there for Williams. He'll have to win a starting job and that could happen in the preseason or in the early part of the regular season. The talent is certainly there. He's a capable scorer who would easily average double figures if Don Nelson decides to use him -- and not natural shooting guard Monta Ellis -- as his replacement at the point for Baron Davis. He didn't get much of a chance in New Jersey, but did get seven starts last season. He averaged 11.1 points, 6.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds in those games. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his preseason.

maybe so man, but im not making a trade bc you think i cant decide. looking at those numbers, its incredibly lopsided. i dont really care that much about draft picks. sure, nice to have some extras, but im not altering my team so i can draft arenas who will be out until 09 and sacrificing my core guys

i should have traded you arenas last year, i didnt, and its kicking my arse right now.

theres a reason you keep pushing this trade on me, and its not to make your team worse dude.

i mean, ive sat here all day and watched you try to trade martin for a draft pick

I'm just saying that your sit and wait approach has effectively fricked you.

I offered you that trade and multiple other trades as a starting point, but you never give any indication back as to what it would take to make a trade happen on your end.

if the trade i offered doesn't make you better come back with something that does.

well, i know you dont want arenas, you already said you didnt have any interest in pierce

so that leaves us with gasol.

in my opinion, gasol and iverson for garnett and martin is much more fair than dirk and iverson
