That still doesn't justify the awful haul that they got for him. They could have gotten the biggest return in the history of trades had they waited and shopped him around. Trading him isn't the only issue, it's what they got in return that makes it so bad. The Pelicans got the same amount of first round picks for Brandon Ingram than the Mavs did for Luka. Getting rid of a mega star is one thing, getting rid of a mega star and not getting crap in return is another.
