Might as well. If you have a good interview it could help for future employment. Owners talk.

There should be a Rooney Rule for drafting white players in the NFL

s the the most ridiculous rule ever. It does nothing but further enhance the negative stereotypes of minorities.

What sterotypes are you talking about?

This is why I said they should fine some homeless minority off the street and talk to him for a few minutes, give him a Big Mac combo meal and send him on his way. They interviewed a minority first so the NFL can get off their nuts.

Just looked through a newspaper up here in Minnesota and on the sports page, they had the picture of all of the starting QBs in the playoffs. There are two minorities out of 12 pictured. I guess there aren't that many white players playing significant or important roles in the NFL.

Would you guys have made the same comment about there not being enough black players in the SEC prior to 1970?

Outside of McNabb and Romo, name another minority that is a good starting quarterback. Also, of those 12 playoff teams, how many of them are starting white running backs or receivers or corners or even safeties.

When more than 75% of the league consists of black players, I think it is baseless to have a rule which requires a team to do anything regarding "minority" hiring.

Bold for emphasis, and I agree. While what Hardwood Tiger describes is undeniably an advantage, why is it that only minorities have access to these advantages?

Didn't know that romo was a minority. I was thinking Sanchez, but anyway.

How may of those teams have black head coaches, owners? Why are there fewer starting RBs, WRs, Corners, Safeties?

In regards to the players, do you think the NFL doesn't look at every level of collegiate and non collegiate to find football players who can play? There are DIII, DII, JUCO, NAIA, and DIAA players located throughout the NFL. Romo came from Eastern Illinois, the kid from Baltimore came from Delaware. If you can play, the NFL will find you. If you have white players who excell in these positions, they will find their way on to an NFL roster. If Hester was a better option for San Diego than LT and Sproles, do you think they would keep him on the bench. Jason Sehorn was an excellent corner when he played as another example.

that they need lower standards and a special process to succeed?

not sure if affirmative action is needed any more, we have an affirmative action president and everybody can see how that one is working out

For those that don't know, Romo is some form of Hispanic. Don't know what country or whatever he hails from, but he is at least part Hispanic.

Man really I was joking. I was making fun of that movie with Woody Harrelson.

Football talent is based on personal attributes specifically tailored to a person.

I don't think that coaches care if a player is white/black/blue or green, if the player can help him win football games he will be on the roster or on the field. It's as simple as that.
