Exactly. I have a few banker friends who are intelligent, wealthy, personable and at worst decent looking. They get escorts all the time for exactly the reason you said. It's up front, no one's catching hurt feelings, no next day stalking, no murder attempts from some angry dude in the girl's life, etc.

It's obvious that this was Martin's dramatic way of ending the homosexual relationship between he and Richie.
