I bet he'd be able to recruit a solid player or two from LA and TX during his rebuilding efforts.

He may not have an NC caliber team in years 1 and 2 obviously, but he'd be able to recruit that area extremely well.
The thing with Les is he's shown to be able to win games with offenses of a variety of styles which is what makes him a better fit than say a Harbaugh that hasn't proven that yet.
Again, the benefit of Les is you know he's not looking to go to the NFL. Michigan is his dream job, so you'd have a guy in him that would offer long term stability.
Harbaugh has openly stated he wants the NFL.

They wanted him and I they still do!

Time to monitor the Mich boards

Here's a post from a posi-Wolverine

We lost every defensive starter at the beginning of the season, we won all the games we were basically expected to win, and we're going to bowl game. Still, the board is full of delirious "college football experts" who somehow must have envisioned a National Championship, a Big 10 title or something, because they can't believe we just finished the season losing to the #8 team in the country at home who fielded a veteran QB, defense, and offense. I guess we'll see all you whiners on the board during the bowl game...until then, keep on crying, babies!

objectively, why would les leave for michigan?
Let's pretend:
You are the coach at Michigan. You won a national championship 3 years ago. You're 7-0, ranked in the top 5 in the country and a good portion of your fan base wants you gone.
You graduated from LSU. You played football at LSU. You've watched your alma mater struggle for several years. Then, LSU comes calling and ask you to come back to the school you played football at, graduated from, and have always loved.
You're telling me you'd stay at Michigan?

There were also Vol fans that wanted to keep Fulmer like that. You are always going to have fans that give the head coach excuses.
In reality, Rich Rod has poorly recruited defensive players. Giving him another year won't change anything. Their offense isn't going to get better next year and ironically, the Big Ten is full of tons of young talent so the other teams aren't going to lost so much.

if he fires Greg Robinson and brings in a real defensive coordinator, Rich Rod could probably do well. I just don't think the 335 is gonna work in the Big 10. Too many big OLines.

michigan needs to realize les miles is the perfect man to lead them.

Wondering if tomorrow or Mon could get interesting

I go back and forth on whether Les would take the Michigan job if offered.
I just have to wonder if he's ready to basically start from scratch at his age, when he's pretty much silenced his critics and won over the vast majority of the doubters in the fan base.
The negapussies in the LSU fan base have pretty much all converted to positigers. The die hards have crawled back under their collective rocks to await the next loss.
Les has it good here now. Especially since he's vanquished the specter of Saban that was hanging over his program.

all of that is great. if you had the chance to coach at LSU, would you turn it down?
That's the situation Miles would be in if he was offered the Michigan job. It's not we're considering Miles going to Oklahoma. We're talking about him going back to his college football home.

Thing is, I think the national media lessened the chance of Michigan offering Miles considerably.
I believe that Michigan would go to Harbaugh first. That's what I'm getting from reading the Michigan fan sites...which btw are unbelievably crappy compared to TD.com.

Rich Rod's gone if Harbaugh will take the job. If Harbaugh doesn't want it, Rich is safe for another year.
Greg Robinson is gone regardless.
