Hey guys. Have a question that I’m not sure about. I know the numbers are off, just making up a hypothetical

If the 2 seed has a first round bye, and plays the 18 who traveled to the 9 and won, who host the next game? The number 2 or 18

Pretty sure the 2 would be home for their first game

18 would have traveled to the 15

You must be a 1A fan

Now if 2 didn’t have a bye then 18 would host

Higher seed hosts except a team cannot be the visitor three times in a row. If a team travels the first two rounds they host the third round even if seeded higher.

Whoever has traveled the most is the home team unless travel is equal then the higher seed hosts. The first round and semifinals are the only time the higher seed is guaranteed to host

to clarify, don’t think it’s a rule, but it may be mathematically impossible anyway

Nm

1st round

31 over 2
18 over 15- 2nd round 31 travels again

Now

26 over 7
23 over 10- 26 travels again

So let’s say (but highly unlikely) 26 meets 31 in the quarterfinal. 31 has to travel three weeks in a row. If they win they travel four weeks in a row now because the semifinal is at the higher seed

Exactly. And yes, it is a rule. Higher seed is home, unless they were previously home and the lower team previously traveled. Higher team is home regardless of travel in the semis.
