Really? That surprises me. Not questioning what you heard, I just had the impression Hakeem was a squeaky clean guy.

T.J. Ford discretely pulled a syringe out of his gym shorts and shoved it into my pregnant sister's stomach when she told him she was naming her son Terrance Jerod.

Did you even read the article you posted?

ETA: I hate it when people bring politics onto the MSB. It is a shame that a thread which started as a "nice guy" thread has devolved into this conversation.

A lot of people can't separate politics from personality and that is sad.

In the '80s, he lived out near where my family lives and people who ran into him in the area later told me that he wasn't the most genial guy. He also had a big child support fight with his girlfriend in the '80s and she made some accusations (could be wrong). The kid is the one who eventually played for OU and now is in the WNBA. I don't think he was around much.

He did become a classier guy as he matured though.

Interesting. I think he did mature at some point, becoming a muslim and playing through fasts and stuff.

The frick?

I'm sure the reference is to him being an activist for the left who has written for the far-left British newspaper THE GUARDIAN and distributed Sean Penn interviews that were pro- Chavez and pro-Castro, etc..

Athletes with strong political opinions on either end of the spectrum don't really influence anyone's thinking, or at least I would hope they don't.
