Maybe in baseball, most of the stars still play, only because they know they'll play 1 or 2 innings.

Yeah, that's bad too.

Rather see MLB'er play Whiffle Ball or Stickball TBH. HR Derby is crap.

Rather see NBA feature ONLY one on one contests up to "11" (they once held that type of contest in the 70s)

Rather see NHL all star game feature ONLY 2 on 1 "team" fastbreak action

The baseball all star game is played like a real game, for the most part. The N.F.L. and N.B.A. all star games are insulting to the viewers’ intelligence.

We will see how this flag football/skills competition dies ratings wise as that’s the true gauge for the NFL and ESPN.

However, I honestly don’t get the complaint about quality of game. Is it supposed to be a competitive affair or a vacation/half-speed experience. If you want the former, then take my stance that the Pro Bowl should really be the first preseason game in Canton….honoring the past with todays best.

If it’s the latter, then you can’t be mad if the players enjoy this than playing a contest that can possibly risk their career. Yes injuries can happen anytime but there’s no need to risk it in a meaningless game so to speak.

There’s still a market for all-star games, but the NFL has mainly used it as a trip to Honolulu for players until they moved it to the Super Bowl site. Regardless, it’s not going anywhere and continue to shift to meet players attitudes.
