I would have bet Florida over Texas in 2009 also.

I don't know about that. Texas gave Alabama a much better game than Florida and that was WITHOUT Colt McCoy.

Are you forgetting that TCU was in the same position last year as Auburn was in 2004?
TCU did not go undefeated in the SEC last year, so no they weren't. I like TCU, they have a great program, and had a great team last year. But leaving out an undefeated WAC champion is not the same injustice as leaving out an undefeated SEC champion.

Not in the SEC? What does that have to do with anything? Some of you folks are ten times worse than Notre Dame when it comes to your sense of entitlement. FYI, they weren't in the WAC either, so what. Talk about clueless. And I'll tell you another thing - like Auburn, they were #3 in the computer polls, but unlike Auburn, they recieved a first place vote in the final Coaches Poll and Gary Patterson didn't have a vote last year.

4 highest ranked BCS conference champions in it

In spite of thinking Alabama doesn't really deserve a shot over OkS this year I don't think it should be all about winning your conference

I can't come up with a really fair way to do it other than taking the top four and putting the 1 vs 3/4 and 2 vs 3/4 in opposite sides. (some flexibility to avoid teams from teh same conference in an opening round matchup)

And no more than 2 teams from teh same conference in the playoff, having as many as 2 is already questionable

apples and oranges. Bama was very conservative in the 2nd half against Texas. They basically targeted Fla in the SEC CG all year.

IMO Florida was the best team in 2009, but Bama beat their arse and deserved the title.

I think that is up for debate

bama/fla was 19-13 at the half and bama pulled away scoring twice to win 32-13 (win by 19)

bama/texas was 24-6 at the half, texas rallied to make it 24-21 at one point but ended up giving up two more tds to lose by 16 (37-21)

I do think that Florida was the #2 team in the country in 2009 and that they would have beaten Texas if they played them... but I don't think they should have gotten a second shot at Alabama in the BCS NCG

How do you think the game would have turned out is Colt McCoy hadn't gone down so early? Florida got bumrushed with Tim Tebow. I can only imagine what would have happened to the Gators without Tebow. With two minutes to go, Texas was only down by 3 points with a true freshman quarterback. Why couldn't Florida keep it that close with Tebow? You can spin it all you want but there's a reason the Coaches voted Texas #2 in the final poll over Florida, including Nick Saban.
