So many times I saw Chris Jackson pull up for a three pointer on a wide open fast break. But that was Chris Jackson.

The math is easy. Assume the dunk 100% probability so the expected value of the shot is 2 pts. It’s probably actually lower than that but for simplicity. For a 3 to be worth more the the shooter must be at least 66.6% for an expected value greater than 2.
