The Pac-12 announced today it has partnered with Quidel Corporation to “implement up to daily testing for COVID-19 with student-athletes across all of its campuses for all close-contact sports.” We’re talking rapid, frequent testing that will “significantly reduce the number of contact traces required and the breadth of contact tracing required(.)”

Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott told media today he’s hopeful this means a return to competition before the January 1 date that the conference had pinpointed before the introduction of the rapid testing.

“This is a major step toward the safe resumption of Pac-12 sport competitions,” Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. “The availability of a reliable test that can be administered daily, with almost immediate results, addresses one of the key concerns that was expressed by our medical advisory committee, as well as by student-athletes, coaches and others. At the same time, our partnership with Quidel, the industry leader in point-of-care antigen testing, will provide crucial research data that will benefit our members’ communities as well as the entire country.”

Greg Sankey is looking like a genius more and more every day.

Yeah Sankey is a total a-hole for listening to the players who were extremely outspoken about wanting to play

Get outta here, Karen. He listened to the players, the athletic directors, the school presidents, and (most importantly) the medical experts. All of them said they were ready and willing to play sports this fall. I'm afraid it was the Big Ten and Pac-12 who ignored the science and instead tried to cancel the whole season to make Trump look bad. It didn't work as common sense (finally) prevailed.

But they are smart enough to vote and decide to serve in the military but too stupid to decide if playing a game is too risky because of a virus less deadly than the flu (by their age range)?

Has the Pac-12 continued to practice? I know the Big 10 has. Hoping for an as normal as possible season.

They're not kids. All of them are 18+ and thus are legally adults. They are old enough to vote as well as old enough to take a bullet in service to their country. Get outta here with that bullshite.

I think very minimal to almost nothing honestly.

I know the teams that are ready to go at the call like Ohio State and Nebraska have been practicing for sure.

Ohio State was out there literally today.

This line is so ridiculous. They may not be paid a wage but pretending that tuition, room and board, athletic gear, free meals are not compensation shows so much ignorance
