I haven’t read anything about this really, but I’d assume it’s not as big an “oof” as it would be if it were an on-field coach. Could be wrong.

Pretty sure that is considered an inducement which is a level 1 violation.

It does not seem like that to me.. maybe someone else here is more knowledgeable about the actual rules. My post from the other thread on tRant:

quote:

Where is that a written rule? I'm honestly asking bc if things like this continue to happen & A&M/Bama/Miami/etc keep getting away with it, then it's probably not a violation.

The NIL guidelines from NCAA that I linked to Dellenger's tweet only mention "Boosters" & potential student athletes (PSA). The closest thing I can see that would be a violation would be this, "Institutional coaches and staff may not communicate directly or indirectly with a PSA on behalf of a booster/NIL entity.", but even that would be hard to prove that he was speaking "on behalf of a booster/NIL entity".

Article 13.2 of NCAA Bylaws regarding Offers and Inducements for recruits says this: "An institution's staff member or any representative of its athletics interests shall not be involved, directly or indirectly, in making arrangements for or giving or offering to give any financial aid or other benefits to a prospective student-athlete or the prospective student-athlete's family members or friends, other than expressly permitted by NCAA regulations"

Again, hard to prove that this guy was "indirectly making arrangements for a PSA" with his statement.

There's also this thing about boosters paying recruits to sign with a certain school.

Nothing about what he said implies that's what the booster/NIL entities are actually doing.

He can say that without violating the rules of "offers and inducements" for recruits. Boosters/NIL entities can sign current players for NIL deals that are not tied to them playing for a certain school.

funny, but the NCAA is already investigating/interviewing Miami & John Ruiz. If this coach committed an actual violation caught on video, A&M would be investigated.

I would rather have gone to community college than be associated with the amount of raging douche bags the aTm fan base creates.
