Braxton Miller would have never won the heisman. keep dreaming

It has everything to do with bowl eligibility. fricking Tahj Boyd was getting thrown out as a candidate. They were reaching for anybody but many writers won't give it to a guy on a bowl banned team. Miller would be in the top 3 at least in a normal year.

Because Manziel is a more deserving candidate with better or comparable numbers in a better conference. It has zero to do with bowl eligibility.

Manziel used his final performance to set the SEC record for total offense in a season. He amassed 4,600 yards this season, beating the previous SEC record of 4,327 set by Auburn’s Cam Newton when he won the Heisman in 2010.

With the win, the Aggies accomplished what some initially thought would be the unthinkable when they departed the Big 12 and made the transition to the Southeastern Conference. With a bowl game to go, A&M improved to 10-2, it’s first season with double-digit wins since 1998, when the Aggies won their lone conference crown in the Big 12.

Johnny Manziel broke Newton and Tebow's record for a season. That's how. Both of those guys have a Heisman.

If Te'o were to win it, there would be a couple of firsts:
-First Heisman winner who played exclusively on defense
-First Heisman winner who did not score a point for his team
-First Heisman winner who played exclusively on defense
-First Heisman winner who did not score a point for his team

Manziel has almost 1000 more total yards than Braxton.
But its hilarious you think the reason Braxton wouldnt win is solely due to bowl eligibility

T'eo has been great. Picks against the great QB's of Navy who was pulled during the season after throwing 1 TD against 3 picks, BYU who has thrown 13 TD's and 12 picks on the season (even managed to get a QB rating of -4.5 against Boise St.), 2 against Robinson at Michigan who just tore it up with 9 TD's and 9 picks. I can't forget the freshman QB with USC starting his first game and just tore up ND with 14-24 for 186 yds passing. Of course he does rank 44th in total tackles and not in the top 50 in tackles for loss, but tackles are overrated in football anyway.

Why do you keep bring up Maziel? I don't think he is even close to Manziel. I am just saying he wouldn't have a shot regardless if Manziel was playing out of his mind or not.
yea, because he wouldn't benefit from the hype of playing/winning the Big 10 and leading his team to the national title game? lol
Yet every time T'eo is brought it, people talk about Shazier.
"oh Shazier has better stats, blah blah blah...."
Why do you think T'eo is as hyped as he is and more hyped than Shazier? He plays on the #1 team in the nation and is making plays.
So yea, it does help regardless of what you think. Has OSU even played in more than 2-3 prime time games this year? Honestly it's like they haven't even existed because they have no chance to advance in the postseason.

I'm not jumping in solely because Shazier is a Buckeye. It's more because I've watched every play of every game and this statement is absolutely false (besides the part about Te'o being on the top team in the nation). Just off the top of my head, Shazier had a pick 6 against PSU that completely changed the momentum of the game, knocked the ball out of Montee Ball's hands on a 4th and goal late in the 4th quarter when the Buckeyes were up by 7, stuffed Denard on a 4th and 2 today and completely changed the momentum of the game, etc. I could keep going, but these are the ones that come to mind since they are the most recent and fresh in my mind.
Just because Te'o has more INTs doesn't necessarily mean he's making more plays than Shazier. Shazier has made an absolute shite ton of big plays this year.

not saying he deserves to win, but they might as well just start making it a offensive award at this point.

most people dont even know who shazier is though. Teo is a national commodity. for right or wrong, it matters.

Pretty easily.
You give it to the best player.

a MLB getting 7 picks is like a CB getting 7 sacks.

No argument. I was just refuting LE's argument that Te'o is up there because he's making plays, while Shazier isn't. He's made just as many game changing plays.
Whether or not people want to admit, the bowl ban hurt Ohio State's chances of producing Heisman winners this year. Shazier still would have been completely out of the discussion because like you said, no one knows who the frick he is, while Te'o has been a nationally known LB hoss for years.

Im proving the point that hype matters. And playing in big games garners hype.
from game 1 it was known OSU was not going to play in a meaningful game this year.
Had it been a regular year and OSU was playing for the big 10 and winning it, both of the OSU guys would be getting more love.
Shazier is probably better than T'eo. My point stands that hype matters. YOu are telling me it doesn't. Make up your mind.

I honestly didn't read the whole thread man, so I probably missed something. I'm just drunk and doing a whole bunch of shite at once. I completely agree with you on that point.

you are fricking dumb. I never said that.
T'eo's play PLUS the hype of playing for the #1 team has him up in contention
Shaziers play WITH NO HYPE has him lost in the shuffle.
