Set the bar so high that hes still the bar. He was what Leonard Fournette had/has all the tools to be in the modern era. Fournettes bigger but thats more modern training. They have similar body types and skillsets.

Im a Barry Sanders guy but mostly because i got to see him. Only films of Brown and lore. Still i know the talent Brown had and he was the best of his day without question.

OJ may have a better argument as maybe the most talented RB ever and hes in that "elite greats" club. Among the best of the greats but nit the best. More an argument if hes top 5 than if he 1.

I like Fournette, but he seems to be much too fragile to have a long career in the NFL. He's about as injury plagued as Ricky Williams was when with the Saints.

Anyone who ever compares Fournette to Jim Brown in terms of willpower, toughness, determination, desire, dominance needs to have their heads examined PRONTO. LF27 too fragile, bad body language, generates a ton of criticism, appears apathetic, not too many winners' tangibles, stuff like that WAS NEVER THE QUESTION FOR JIM BROWN, he always gave 110% and played in a rougher era. No comparison except maybe build and stuff but Brown was the freak of freaks of nature, almost a Greek god of sorts compared to mortal man.

That three-year run the Tyler Rose submitted to begin his NFL career might be the most dominating, greatest stretch of football excellence maybe the game ever saw, literally unstoppable

Shame that he's in the condition he's currently in. Poor SOB has been having mobility issues, a bad back, arthritis in many of his joints since he was in his late 40's and he's now in his early 60's.

Football, at least the way he played it, took a great toll on his body.

OJ was a glider with elite speed. What’s forgotten is that he was pretty big, 215lbs. Wasn’t particularly physical, but he could run through arm tackles and once in the open field, amazing.
Not GOAT at the time, Brown was much more physical and only 6-7 years ahead. Seriously good, though.

When reporters complained that McKay was working OJ too hard by giving him the ball 40 times a game.

"The ball ain't heavy and he's not in a Union. We can give him the ball as much as we need to."

"I keep a picture of O. J. Simpson at my side at all times to remind me of the days when I knew how to coach." - John McKay while with the Bucs

OJ was just so much faster than his competition in College.

Side-note

OJ still holds the record of most 1st place votes for the Heisman.

OJ was used so much in college that in 1967, the first game of the century...

#1 UCLA faced #2 USC for the Conference Title, a trip to the Rose, the Heisman and a National Title. Everything was on the line.

USC won 21-20. Beban won the Heisman over OJ.

USC completed ONE pass the entire game.

One pass...and won the game.

No wonder he retired at 32.

Those were different times.
