Wings couldn't afford to lose both lids and rafs in the same off-season.

lidstrom's new $6.2 mil contract will leave the wings with about $16-17 mil of cap space come free agency.

Speaking of Toronto Maple Leafs, I can't even imagine how insane things would be if that city lost in game 7 of the finals like Vancouver Canucks just did...

Jagr really wants to come back to Pittsburgh,eh?

from the StarTribune,(credit to HFBoards.)

Some trade scuttlebutt around the NHL as the draft approaches:

• Colorado Avs: Wants to keep the No. 2 pick but would trade No. 11. Looking for a goaltender (maybe Jonathan Bernier or Cory Schneider).

• Detroit Red Wings: Could be dangling Jiri Hudler and/or Valtteri Filppula for a puck-moving defenseman to replace retired Brian Rafalski (Keith Yandle anyone?)

• Edmonton Oilers: Owns the No. 1 overall pick but would like to trade for another top-10 pick. Names available include Ales Hemsky, Tom Gilbert, Sam Gagner and Andrew Cogliano.

Lets just say Toronto Cops are not Vancouver cops...i have around 5 or 6 cop friends in Toronto and the GTA and there would be about a 10 minute head start for looters before Toronto cops started cracking skulls.

Phoenix as a franchise if you can believe it are even more fricked... LINK

hudler + kindl for a good defensemen? get it done. i'm not opposed to trading filppula either, but it will depend on what we are getting for him.

I've heard the Jackets could send the #8 to Edmonton for Hemsky. Not really sure how I feel about that.

And Torontians are not Vancouverites. I cannot tell you how repulsed I am that thousands of Vancouverites, when witnessing ridiculous crime deemed the appropriate thing to do was take their picture in front of it for facebook. Not saying they should have tried to be heroes, but my former city's acceptance of the anarchist bullshite that has permeated that city for decades gets me everytime. Not sure about you guys, but when I am witnessing a crime and chaos I am not pulling out my fricking bb to memorialize it. End of rant; frick I hated last week.

There were heroes Iggy, make no mistake, people stood up to the mob and they paid the price for it...I know also by watching CBC and Global Vancouver it's slowly starting to dawn on Vancouver that they were pretty fricking close to winning it all. I think if Viggy pulls Lou in favor of Schneider in a couple of those games we have a very different result, also the suspension on Rome fricked up the pairings...
