I think we need to fire the DC. If Helfrich doesn't have the balls to get rid of the DC than he should go.

Unfortunately that won't happen this year. Pellum has to go or take a reduced role.

Was Helfrich's seat really starting to warm up?
Y'all played for the natty earlier this year. That's got to buy Helfrich at least two years. Bellotti had multiple 4+ loss seasons sandwiched between 10+ win seasons.
I agree about the DC. That was terrible last night.
I don't know a great deal about Helfrich. My feel on the Ducks is that like Nebraska under Devaney/Osborne/Solich they were more interested in continuity than anything else. I can't think of another program like the Ducks that have gone through so many coaching transitions without firing anyone or going outside the program for the next coach. 1977 is the last time the Ducks hired a head coach "from the outside".
Helfrich may well be the end of the "House of Rich Brooks" line. Will be interesting to see who they would hire from outside. Unlike Nebraska, I doubt it will be Mike Riley. Wouldn't be shocked if Chip Kelly came back if things don't work out in Philly.

I just looked and 8/11 of our starters are defense had a four star rating by one of the recruiting services. It's appalling how bad our defense is when you look at the pieces.
If Helfrich wants to survive, he's going to have to correct the defense all together and help Frost with his playcalling.
