If ott didn't have a few decent guests that have a clue about recruiting once I a while I don't know anyone that would listen.

TFH is the only local show I will listen to, but sorry...not gonna listen if Gordy's taking it over. No offense to him.

The good thing about Ott is that he actually knows sports outside of LSU football. So he doesn't spend all spring and early summer talking about who will be the third string long snapper.

Didn't say ott doesn't know anything. His show sucks. I don't need a cubs update or a description of the baked parchment paper at monjunis or what his dad has been up to. Nor do I car who won the tennis match over the weekend. Go watch this guy live somewhere. When a caller who isn't retarded calls in the guy is scrambling on google to figure out what he is talking about. Seen it firsthand. He couldn't tell you an LSU depth chart to save his life either. I'd rather someone who doesn't pay to be on the radio. Anyone can do that.

I kind of hope 1045 has no local programming. I love listening to Mike and Mike, Van pelt and Gottleib. Beats the hell out of Buddy, scone, and Condon. The only guy on 1210 I can listen to is Ott.

agree. Scona had become the best local guy imo. Not much competition of course, but an hour of him was not bad at all.

Scona was awful.

Boring as frick. Like watching paint dry.

No way he can carry his own show IMO. He HAS to have some kind of sidekick to survive. Listeners will fall asleep.

These guys generally take one topic and absolutely beat it to death(even worse for the big headlines...i.e. Tiger)......though the absolute worse is Colin Cowherd(who I can go to lunch, come back, and he's on the same topic). As far as local programming goes I like Ott, and think he's probably the most knowledgeable local sports guy currently on the air. With that being said, I think Hanagriff blows all of the other locals out of the water.

so what's better if you had to listen to a local guy? 1)One who just bangs away at sports headlines and offers his opinion, 2)One who takes lots of phone calls and lets callers offer their opinions, 3)or One who takes very little phone calls and gets BIG guests (like athletes, not local newspaper writers)? just wondering

Combo of 1&3.....Scona was good at doing interviews, but he really came off as arrogant and at times had no clue what he was talking about. Though I do agree with the guy earlier in the thread that said he works much better with a sidekick than alone.
