Jesus. I played a good bit of 3rd in ‘96 in 5A and in ‘97 in college. Almost always even with the bag. It’s lucky I’m still alive.

It’s really apparent with misses. One of those opposite field slices that bangs off the wall in right was incredible. The lefty popped one up and ignored it. It sailed over the fence.

In LSU’s 1997 season where they set the 188 HR record, it was so funny watching guys reach out to slap the ball the other way off the end of the bat and watch the ball still carry over the fence. The bats they used back then were so ridiculous

I wish bat bros could get legit MLB power hitters on with that bat to see how much exit velo they can get. I think the highest last year in the MLB was like 121. I’d like to say they can get to 130 with those gorilla ball bats

I’m genuinely curious what a bat could do if we told these manufacturers “make me the most powerful, hottest bat you possibly can”. I’d love to see that

The original gray Miken Ultra slow pitch bat. People were dying around the country. Legit 150 exit velocities with a softball that was tossed.

I used it in 2011. I think we were playing Menard maybe when the pitcher was like that’s not a bbcor bat. The ump looked at it and said it says besr on the bat so it’s good to go
