Grey shoes? Yeah, you missed the memo.
Black shoes are somewhat acceptable with a navy suit, but a rich, dark brown is preferable. The more formal the occasion or in the evening, the darker the brown.
The same goes for grey suits, although black shoes are a little more common in that instance.

Tan suits are casual and would typically only be worn in a daytime setting. In that instance, a navy suede shoe would be appropriate and also look fantastic. As with anything, it has to be the right blue though.
*I* probably wouldn't go that route with a tan suit, but if I was wearing earth tone or white 5-pockets and a tan based jacket, I'd rock some navy suede loafers or drivers in a heartbeat.
